This evening a small community just north of Bogue Chitto, Mississippi was directly struck by a destructive tornado. With the assistance of @VinceWaelti and a large group of locals and one firefighter, we began the difficult task of clearing numerous downed trees completely blocking Highway 51. Vince was first to access the mobile home community after reports were received there were people injured. Vince called me on the radio to advise that a mass casualty incident had occurred. I worked with the local firefighter to safely access the building where the injured people were found. Vince and myself began the triage process and we soon had backup with more medical responders arriving. We treated and triaged over a dozen people and comforted many more. Not too far away were many local police, firefighters and a large number of ambulances to assist with hospital transfers. I wish to acknowledge the incredible help from locals who assisted with clearing the road and the EMT's and Paramedics, police and firefighters who responded to the call for help. Together we all worked to support the impacted community and help those in need. #mswx @NWSJacksonMS
