@ATWChasing no way those are 'subvortices' lol, one is >1000 yds away from the main circulation. i wonder if theres any videos of the tornado at this stage
English

UPDATE: I sent a quick email to the NWS in Lincoln, IL and they stated, "they could be subvorticies." and also called them, "very interesting".
ATW Storm Chasing@ATWChasing
Can someone please talk about these? It seems during the Pekin, Illinois EF2 on November 19, 2013 a few subvortices or satellites happened near the main tornado. Not sure if anyone has talked about these but they are quite weird and visible on Google Earth.

@Skye22276029298 @LoafL92750 @HurricaneIsaac *4 locations of IF3 damage - regarding IF4 damage there is (imo) likely IF4 damage in çaybeyi and possible IF4 damage in akçamezra, i just updated the eswd report which has some more info
English

@LoafL92750 @HurricaneIsaac the IF3 is likely gonna get upgraded, the surveyor found 4 instances of IF4 damage
English

@Skye22276029298 yeahh ive been meaning to update it, im approved for vop permissions there theres just been delays :/ im also gonna be away for like 2 weeks so might have to wait til july
English

@Skye22276029298 i do wish the IF scale guidelines were more specific with the differences between DI subclasses like WTA/WTS, PTW/PTS, OFL/OFH etc, it feels subjective imo
English

@Skye22276029298 GISPSU apparently found another from the same day that was 41km long, 1.5km wide!
English

@2_wycked @MatthewCappucci @brianemfinger the photos are more extreme than the baseline for the DoD (for example the first image is from the south moravia IF4 tornado) - they would probably fall under "≥IF2" while the video would be at the lower end of the DoD so just IF2 imo
English

@ynkyos @MatthewCappucci @brianemfinger It doesn't quite look THIS bad on the videos - should detachment really be the same kmh as structural failure?
English

Anyone have any guesses on max wind speed here? Some of the things in here make me think this is stronger than at least I had been thinking (I had been thinking low end ef-0). Maybe some small scale moments of 100-120mph? I don’t think those solar panel farms are gonna be messed up by 60mph but maybe individual panels can? #wxtwitter #tornado
English

@MatthewCappucci @brianemfinger the IF scale uses instantaneous wind speed, this damage would probably be rated IF2 (corresponds roughly to low-end EF2) with instantaneous wind speeds of 220 km/h or ~36.7 mph

English

@Skye22276029298 unfortunately the area is right in the middle of a radar hole too.. the lack of adequate radar coverage in so many areas that are very prone to severe weather really needs to be addressed

English

@PlaysSaheb wondering if this could have a tornado/waterspout risk as well - several tornadoes in central america have been associated w/ tropical storms/hurricanes
English

@Skye22276029298 feel free to send them to me, i can try geolocating them! theres also a few more videos i can send you if you dont have them already :)
English

Absolutely historical and definitely violent tornado.

jonathan@ynkyos
@Skye22276029298 for sure, i do think there's IF4 damage in çaybeyi & parts of akçamezra which ive notified QC of. they said theyve been pretty busy with recent cases (its peak storm season in europe after all) but theyll hopefully be able to look at it soon
