i choose to believe the bin collector in person was a ttpd fan and vowed to get revenge on matty, chose not to empty his trash (since matty himself is trash) them called him a cunt at their first opportunity

putasinghonit@putasinghonit
the concept of a bin man calling matty healy a cunt as he stands next to an overflowing bin full of three weeks worth of rubbish

@rushman1uk @LNER There aren’t enough Azumas available to run the whole service, and so a few InterCity 225 sets were kept. They do plan on replacing them with new CAF build Class 897 “Serenza” trains, however they’re not expected to enter service until 2028
English

@LNER Why are LNER using trains built between 1988 & 91 instead of the new Azuma trains from 2019?
English

@RT190523 @TfL @jimmynokes Guess it’s because there’s lower demand for overnight services via Bank, especially as a number of stations on it feature Night Tube from other lines, plus it increases how much training is required for Night Tube drivers to be trained to operate both branches
English

@UptownDonkey02 @pannekook mate we don’t need to know your ao3 history
English

@pannekook You're probably a homosexual man pretending to be a woman. Any actual woman knows a man only fucks her put he ass because he thinks she's total garbage and deserves to get punished.
English

@Itsdragonflies @ClanMcRaeMason @futuredci @daiquiriheiress Before, construction started 1987, was opened during 1994
English

@wheres_ally2016 @ClanMcRaeMason @futuredci @daiquiriheiress When was the channel tunnel built was it built pre or post Katrina, just a random question I have
English

New Orleans….. under ground ……. God he’s so fucking stupid
NOLA.com@NOLAnews
Elon Musk's Boring Company picks New Orleans as possible site for underground tunnel loop nola.com/news/business/…
English

@ClanMcRaeMason @Itsdragonflies @futuredci @daiquiriheiress Perhaps that’s where we differ then. With anything, I have to consider the cost of doing something when decide whether or not it’s possible. That’s the reality of engineering in this day and age.
English

@wheres_ally2016 @Itsdragonflies @futuredci @daiquiriheiress I’m only speaking to the “impossibility” of it, not the cost.
English

@ClanMcRaeMason @Itsdragonflies @futuredci @daiquiriheiress Yes, that is one thing that’s very true about engineering. Anything can be made to work - if you’re given a blank cheque to work with. Realistically, any scheme to build tunnels in ground like that in New Orleans is likely to cost many times more than the benefit they bring
English

@wheres_ally2016 @Itsdragonflies @futuredci @daiquiriheiress I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. Things are thought to be impossible until engineering makes them possible. (You, as an engineering student, should understand this better than anyone.)
English

@ClanMcRaeMason @Itsdragonflies @futuredci @daiquiriheiress I think you’re misunderstanding what I’m saying.
The geology caused issues during construction. This was always known about (though not to the extent that was seen), but was never enough of an issue to prevent construction from going ahead.
English

@wheres_ally2016 @Itsdragonflies @futuredci @daiquiriheiress "Hardly, and if they did, it wasn’t due to the geology or the ability to build a tunnel through that geology."
English

@ClanMcRaeMason @Itsdragonflies @futuredci @daiquiriheiress Oh don’t get me wrong, there were geological issues, and they caused significant issues during construction, but that wasn’t the main issues that prevented construction taking place prior to when it did
English

@wheres_ally2016 @Itsdragonflies @futuredci @daiquiriheiress Enough to know that there were, indeed, geological issues.
English

@ClanMcRaeMason @Itsdragonflies @futuredci @daiquiriheiress May i ask how much research you’ve done?
English

@wheres_ally2016 @Itsdragonflies @futuredci @daiquiriheiress Methinks you should do some more research.
English

@ClanMcRaeMason @Itsdragonflies @futuredci @daiquiriheiress Hardly, and if they did, it wasn’t due to the geology or the ability to build a tunnel through that geology. Being able to build a tunnel to a high degree of accuracy was the main issue, plus the ability to ventilate a tunnel of such a length only from each end
English

@wheres_ally2016 @Itsdragonflies @futuredci @daiquiriheiress People thought the Chunnel was impossible too.
English

@ClanMcRaeMason @Itsdragonflies @futuredci @daiquiriheiress The Channel Tunnel was incredibly complex, and went way over budget. Plus, it was built through fairly solid marlstone. The soil under New Orleans is loose, has very little structural integrity by comparison (hence why multiple parts of the city are slowly sinking)
English

@Itsdragonflies @futuredci @daiquiriheiress The Chunnel is literally undersea. Aka, below sea level.
English

@astorey88 @kitchentowel @tomhfh They’ve asked for a consultation on the idea, not been confirmed in the slightest (plus the railway itself will still be designed for 360km/h - the only way trains would be limited to lower than that is due to a rolling stock restriction)
English

@JackDaldry @chriscollins462 @LumoTravel Dw they’re keeping the original seats in carriages that have them, they’re only replacing them in the ex-First Class carriages
English

@wheres_ally2016 @chriscollins462 @LumoTravel Ah gotcha now yes
I’m a little gutted about that because I LOVE the old 222 seats, and as I’m gonna be using Lumo Preston to London and back, was hoping they’d keep the original seats but heigh ho
English

We're excited to reveal a first glimpse of the eye-catching new livery on the refurbished Class 222 trains that will serve customers on our West Coast service which launches this Spring...
The refurbishment work is being undertaken by Alstom’s modernisation facility in Widnes, in association with Beacon Rail.
The trains feature a striking new livery in our signature blue!

English

@JackDaldry @chriscollins462 @LumoTravel Oh no it’s 222s that are coming over, they’re just using the same seats that XC are using as part of the Voyager refurb
English

@wheres_ally2016 @chriscollins462 @LumoTravel Is it XC Voyagers that are coming over? I thought it was ex-EMR with the new Auroras coming in?
English

@mitchell_hurd @LumoTravel My understanding is that they’ll reuse the existing standard class seat covers - after all they were only installed fairly recently and it’s intended that these trains will be temporary
English

@LumoTravel Will the seats be blue like in the Class 803's? Mock ups suggest otherwise.
English

@chriscollins462 @JackDaldry @LumoTravel Not quite true I’m afraid. Standard class coaches will retain existing seats and seat covers, with new carpets added and a general clean over everywhere else. Ex-First Class carriages will get the same, but with new seats identical to those in CrossCountry’s Voyager refurb

English

@JackDaldry @LumoTravel Full refurbishment on the interior.
Installment of a high capacity configuration including removing 1st class. Expect something very similar to the 803s.
Sunderland, England 🇬🇧 English

@AWCook0558 @cathcartglasgow @ScotRail @BBCNews @DouglasDickie1 Plus the delivery times for these trains mean they can enter service much quicker to replace the HSTs which really need to go. Same reason Lumo went for them. A new fleet wouldn’t be ready for at least 5 years, if not longer
English

@cathcartglasgow @ScotRail @BBCNews @DouglasDickie1 Lumo are quite happy to lease them, so saying no-one else wanted them isn't true.
English

Morning 👋! We have some exciting news for customers. We’re replacing our intercity high speed trains (HSTs) with more modern Class 222s. 🚆
The triple 2s are getting a complete makeover with a new interior, better Wi-Fi, improved accessibility, cycle spaces, and electronic seat reservations.✨
You’ll be able to board the first of these trains in late 2027.

@M0bydick2 @JulianCasablang @Limbo_man @ShitpostReels Two factors
a) possible that bonding to the body would cause the external body temperature to get unacceptably warm under load
b) bonding would make replacement of the motherboard much more complex in what is (unusually for Apple) a laptop designed with repairability in mind
English

@JulianCasablang @Limbo_man @ShitpostReels I don't get the thermal design of that thing; you have a full aluminium body to dissipate heat, why is the CPU not properly bonded to it?
English

@EdwardNRose1 @HappyTime1066 @calumthomson3_ @ScotRail Only when there were much more of them, had 10 years less of wear on them, and had just been through an incredibly costly and complex mechanical rebuild that included brand new engines. Now they’re a small fleet with ancient parts that are basically impossible to get hold of
English

@HappyTime1066 @calumthomson3_ @ScotRail That will be due to insufficient or poor maintenance as the trains have proven they can be reliable.
