@timruss2 Black democrats won’t elect Mayor Pete. Electoral college forces candidates to react to a diversity of states, forcing dems out of the big cities for votes, which is why they hate it.

I wish conservatives understood one thing: If it weren’t for blue states, the U.S. would be a third world country with broadband holes, broke schools, and zero innovation. Red states take the federal money. Blue states make it. You don’t fund the country, you drain it. Bad ideas. No revenue. And the loudest voices are always the ones who bring the least to the table.

@HistoryBoomer According to AOC. The first 1. You hired people and made money, therefore you stole money from them.

You start a burger joint: Boomer Burgers. You hire 10 people to run it, and it makes money. Ok? You branch out and build 2 more joints. You make more money. You keep building new BBs. Dozens. Hundreds. Thousands. At what point does the money you're making become "unearned"?
Marco Foster@MarcoFoster_

AOC: “There’s a certain level of wealth and accumulation that is unearned. You can’t earn a billion dollars. You just can’t earn that. You can get market power, you can break rules, you can abuse labor laws, you can pay people less than what they’re worth, but you can’t earn that”

Every time people complain about property tax increasing when your house appreciates from $500k to $1M and at 1% your property tax goes up $5,000, they always ignore the fact that you also have $500,000 in gains to help cover that

According to @Saylor, the reason it’s better to create digital credit using Bitcoin, rather than the S&P or gold, is that Bitcoin has a higher expected rate of return. Expected by whom? Bitcoin’s expected return is more hope than forecast. Investing based on hope won’t end well.

Capital gains tax represents one of the most egregious examples of double taxation in the federal code, yet politicians treat it as if they're taxing "unearned" income for the first time. You earn $100,000, pay income tax on it, and save $70,000 after Uncle Sam takes his cut. You invest that already-taxed money in stocks, real estate, or bonds. Ten years later, you sell for $140,000. The government swoops in again, demanding capital gains tax on your $70,000 profit. They're taxing the same economic activity twice: your initial productive work that generated the savings, then the delayed consumption that made investment possible. Capital gains represent nothing more than the time value of money plus compensation for risk. When you save instead of consume immediately, you defer gratification to provide capital for productive investment. That $70,000 you invested didn't sit idle; it funded business expansion, job creation, and economic growth. The return you earned reflects both the productive use of that capital and inflation's erosion of purchasing power over time. The double taxation becomes even more perverse when you consider inflation. If your $70,000 investment becomes $140,000 over ten years, but inflation averaged 3% annually, your real purchasing power increased by roughly $18,000, not $70,000. Yet the IRS taxes the entire nominal gain, including the portion that merely kept pace with their own monetary debasement. Every dollar collected through capital gains tax is a dollar stolen twice; once from your labor, again from your thrift.

Why do we tax hard-earned dollars (income) but not the easy-earned ones (wealth gains)? I mean, other than you know the rich have far more easy money than the poor and middle-class and can pay to push politicians their way. I’m not banging on wealth. But why are you so eager to bang on the hard-working?

Anyone notice a pattern here? If you are actually using these funds and then using the distributions for income then @Fidelity wants you out. It is to much of an inconvenience for them. @RobinhoodApp is going to eat this up.

Sounds like people are upset that this “isn’t DeFi” but will be the first to ask for help if this exploit was used to take from them personally. I get it. This should not have happened. But when a bad actor takes $300m, there has to be more than people standing around and saying “welp, that DeFi for ya”. 🤷‍♂️ CEX have to live by gov regulation. DEX may not. So the CEX part of the crypto world took on this battle. Don’t get it twisted with DeFi.

Arbitrum
Arbitrum@arbitrum·
The Arbitrum Security Council has taken emergency action to freeze the 30,766 ETH being held in the address on Arbitrum One that is connected to the KelpDAO exploit. The Security Council acted with input from law enforcement as to the exploiter’s identity, and, at all times, weighed its commitment to the security and integrity of the Arbitrum community without impacting any Arbitrum users or applications. After significant technical diligence and deliberation, the Security Council identified and executed a technical approach to move funds to safety without affecting any other chain state or Arbitrum users. As of April 20 11:26pm ET the funds have been successfully transferred to an intermediary frozen wallet. They are no longer accessible to the address that originally held the funds, and can only be moved by further action by Arbitrum governance, which will be coordinated with relevant parties.
