Have Codex use organizational tools by default. This means it keeps a presentable human readable workbook in an excel or googlesheet, it builds a human readable wiki, and comes with built local free vector database tools with data parsing tools. Anthropic is panicking over the release of Kimi K3. In fact, the entire U.S. AI frontier lab ecosystem is panicking right now. When investors figure out that U.S. frontier labs have no viable long-term revenue model from paying retail customers (because China's models are both better and cheaper), the AI investment bubble will crash.

Everyone's talking about Kimi's new model. Almost nobody is talking about the repo that lets you actually run it at home. We're talking 2.8 trillion parameters, one of the biggest open models ever released. And when the open weights drop, you won't need anyone's servers to run it. The repo is called ktransformers. It lets regular people run giant models on their own hardware. A decent GPU plus normal RAM, that's it. No API bill, no rate limits, no company sitting between you and the model. 17k+ stars, and they ship support for new models on release day. So when the weights land, this thing will be ready.

Let's also be very clear: The President does not have the legal authority to choose company by company who gets access to frontier AI. He can assert this power, but it doesn't exist in law. What he does have is the ability to bully frontier AI companies into complying. If this article is correct, and the White House is seeking to dictate who gets access, the right response from the AI labs, is, in unison, to tell the White House to get stuffed and to see them in court. I doubt they'll go that way, of course. The White House will probably continue to assert that this is a 'voluntary' regime, using all the many pressure tools at its command to get the labs to comply. It might not even be that bad in the short run. They may make reasonable choices of which companies get early access. But it will get worse. This is a precedent leading us towards ever tightening, extra-legal executive branch power over AI. The real AI safety threat is inside the White House.

This emerging industry is doing what software companies are supposed to do: compete and improve products rapidly. My view is, we should treat this as normal human progress and avoid moral, regulatory, and geopolitical panics over AI.

The fear-based marketing that convinced so many to accept closed models, sky-high rents, and “safety” as justification for locking away frontier capability now looks like expensive theater. Mad are the politicians and academics that fell for Dario hand waving holier than tho testimony that “we must stop AI”. Kimi just drops and the world did not end. The sky did not fall Dario. Builders no longer have to pretend the only responsible path runs through Anthropic’s premium tollbooth; the open frontier just proved it can match or beat them where it counts and hand the weights to anyone with a cluster. That narrative is dead.
