Presidio County in Texas' Big Bend has an annual budget of $4 million. They can't keep a hospital open. Cost of one mile of border wall: $17 million. Cost of the federal contract DHS just issued for border walls in the county: $1.2 billion. All while nobody is crossing here.

The feds are moving forward with plans to wall off the Big Bend region. Some reports say walls are "off the table" in the state park, but DHS hasn't canceled construction contracts or restored the legal protections they stripped. Nobody is crossing here. Look at those cliffs.

Border walls in Big Bend won’t survive West Texas monsoons. Look at the flash floods from this weekend--they'd wash the wall away. To avoid catastrophic blowouts, DHS would keep massive floodgates open most of the year, which kind of undermines the entire premise of a “wall.”
