@fredbrancz @ibuildthecloud Historically where this has fallen down in other communities is (a) the usual who is actually going to do the work aspect and (b) reaching agreement on what is actually eligible/expected to go into such a branch

@fredbrancz @ibuildthecloud We certainly saw that need early and moved to support customers. However with more distributions recognizing this need it's a fair ask to re-visit whether more of this can't be done via collaboration in the community (by the same players) on a common branch

@ibuildthecloud @zach_wachtel See this varying widely - for other open source projects particularly those in the CNCF tent then absolutely they try stick to the line of testing/supporting only newish/latest versions, the more traditional ISVs that many customers depend on - not so much.
