If you’re unwilling to disrupt yourself, I promise someone smaller, hungrier, and quicker is working hard to disrupt you.

Update: I’ve joined @AnthropicAI as a Member of Technical Staff on the Applied AI team! For the past decade, I've worked on problems related to human connection and community. While building Intros AI, each new model release let us connect people in more nuanced ways. And as the years went on, it became clear that AI would become upstream not just of how Intros AI connected people, but of how coordination happens in all forms. How companies are built, how governments interact, how society operates. That’s a terrifying thought. It seems to me Anthropic has the most thoughtful approach for navigating these risks. While there are a lot of unknowns ahead, I hope to do what I can to further Anthropic’s safety-first approach.

Did you know that the .png format was created out of spite? Or that .jpeg just discards like half of the colours in your image because you won't notice? To celebrate last week's launch, I published a chapter on image compression. makingsoftware.com/chapters/image…

timelapse #150 (10.5 hrs) - Felt like a bit of a slower start today - Continued some recordings of yoctogpt (refactored a lot to help for beginner learning). its mostly small python snippet and diagram based VS walls of text - Bought a second 200/mo claude plan to throw fable at more projects - Making a Minecraft xp farm searcher to hopefully find something interesting (cuz why not) - Went to the gym - Published kernelbench-hard results

We need more niche benches. We need ios-bench. We need ts-bench. We need baseball-bench. We need yt-thumbnail-bench. We need way more creativity in how we measure what models can do.

the real flex isn’t writing code. it’s writing maintainable code. yes or no?

This guy created Linux and beat Microsoft to the best operating system He doesn’t mind being ruthlessly honest snd doing the dirty work because nothing mild ever wins Lesson in that for Opensource AI btw

Tobi showed up at Le Mans with the best pace I've ever seen from a first-time bronze-rated driver. If not for track limits on his flying lap, he would have been fastest of all bronzes in qualifying. Satisfying to have been a forcing function for this!

Absolute privilege to get to compete in the 24h of Le Mans this year. Bucket list stuff. Wouldn’t have gotten here without @dhh’s encouragement and guidance. Watch this weekend. We are in @TDSRacing_live #14

“don’t train your own model” is common ai advice. it's wrong. your token bill's the proof. today, we’re excited to launch castform into open preview. castform is the easiest way for you to train your own model, on your own data. open-weights models are performant and much cheaper. when trained on your task & proprietary data, they beat closed models. the thing standing between you and that was weeks of plumbing & years of ml expertise. with castform, model training is as simple as prompt engineering. @castformai bring your agent traces or raw corpora. castform turns it into training data, picks the right algorithmic recipes, manages gpus, and gives you an ide to watch and chat with your model as it learns. see what you can build with castform👇
