zippcall is a cool app but the icon is terrible

A big update day for @zippcall : I have upgraded to a more in‑house configured network for crisper audio, more reliable calls, and even lower rates + released a faster iOS app - 90% of countries now cost less per minute - More countries supported (including China) - iOS app is faster, more responsive, and smoother on weak connections

Earlier this year, Microsoft retired Skype, forcing customers who once paid for Skype credits to move to a subscription model via Teams. They alienated a huge market of users who only wanted pay-as-you-go credits for international calls. As one Reddit user aptly put it: “Monthly subscription fees are the last thing I need in this inflation economy.” And guess what? @zippcall swooped in to serve this exact niche. And the whole product was built in 4 days by @JoshMead. Not everything needs to be SaaS. Usage-based and token-based pricing is emerging. Product Builders in the AI era will need to think deeply about how to align value with pricing. New version of the @zippcall iOS app is coming soon, feels way more native and works with CallKit properly now loads of other new things too: new web app to make calling from a browser even better, improved audio quality on calls, cheaper rates and the Andorid app is neeeearly there

@JoshMead Kudos for creating the ZippCall! Just what was needed, no subscriptions, no bullshit. Simply great user experience.

Chat did we ever figure out what the Skype alternative is? Need to call an overseas phone from my laptop or using data on my cell (I don’t have a phone plan). Google Voice not an option.
