Adoption of the recent trend of early overspecialization of cardiac surgeons is the most detrimental unforced error a young surgeon can commit. I truly don’t understand why academic programs discourage young staff from building a wide range of expertise early in their careers.

Fellow VSRR surgeons...how would you deal with this 6cm root aneurysm in the setting of an asymmetric trileaflet valve with moderate regurgitation? Any tips for managing the asymmetry? @AortaEd @GebrineK @schaefers_hans

The world has lost a shining light. @DVervoort94 walked this world with grace, compassion, and a deep passion for health equity. We are heartbroken to have lost Dom and are grieving with his family and all those around the world who knew him and loved him.

@farkomd If tevar’ing I think you’ll need more than zone 2 PLZ , aneurysm burden is high at that size , and higher than average 1a leak

Admit it. Your favorite epiploic foramen is the epiploic foramen of Winslow. (And that’s why you need a 1776 copy of his anatomy)

As a medical historian, I’d like to believe this is the scope of the problem, but I know it’s actually just the tip of the iceberg. The answer to my question is somewhere behind all of this though, and I think William Hunter *might* be the gateway….

Today, I reached a milestone, having completed my 3,800th thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm repair. Back in May 2000, I performed my 1,510th, surpassing the previous record holder, Dr. E. Stanley Crawford's 1,509th. Many thanks to the team that made this possible. #NotRetiredYet
