@TheEconomist If you are frantically searching for a theory of Judaism that would allow your fanatical antizionism not to be antisemitic - a new book for Molly Crabapple pretends to have done this heavy lifting for you (and your leftie mates wont scrutinise it enough to discover its bollocks!)

Jews in the diaspora who want to celebrate their heritage without tying themselves to Israel might look to the Bundist concept of “hereness”, which a new book by Molly Crabapple celebrates economist.com/culture/2026/0…

@IhabHassane Not a serious take. In 1967 there was no occupation of West Bank. 2005 ended any occupation in Gaza. The truth is you know full well that most Palestinians consider the whole of Israel "Occupation".

Ihab Hassan@IhabHassane·
Since October 7th 2023, I keep hearing that Israeli society has radicalized, and that this is why they won't give Palestinians a state, why they no longer believe in peace. But what are Palestinians supposed to say about 78 years of occupation, ethnic cleansing, settler terrorism, and dispossession, or watching their children killed by the thousands and an entire Gaza reduced to rubble? The conversation is always framed around Israeli trauma, while Palestinian suffering is treated as background noise. And many so-called pro-Palestine voices and Hamas leaders have contributed to this narrative, because they do not see Palestinian lives as worth anything either. If radicalization is the concern, the answer is simple: end the occupation. That is the root. That is what produces despair, rage, and hopelessness. Yes, we have radical groups among us, that cannot be denied. But the majority of Palestinians still believe in a two-state solution and simply want to live in peace. When you see ordinary Palestinians who have given up on peace, it is not because they are radical. It is because decades of occupation have exhausted them and convinced them that peace is no longer available to them. End the occupation. That is the only real path to stability in the region.

@PollyRendall Love your positivity but it's a vain hope. Greens and labour hard left are actually 1-state-no-jews-final-solution people. Even those who wont say it aloud. Bad faith actors mostly. Getting them to 2 states would be an improvement.

I’m pushing for it otherwise drives by all the UK parties to stop antisemitism are not being thought through. The left leaning in Labour and The Green Party will walk Israel into the lethal 2 state solution and/or repeat 7/10 attacks. I’m hoping Burnham can be the balancer and get Labour to see sense.

For me, before Burnham, I had been a Labour drifter since 2019. To their credit Reform UK and Nigel Farage have been the only party or public figure, respectively, in the UK to support Israel after the October 7th massacre and kidnappings and they still do today; it created a safe space for Jews and their staunch allies. Rishi rightly removed UNRWA’s funding and agreed Isreal had a right to defend themselves against Hamas, a known terrorist group including the PIJ, but Sunak, Cleverly and Khan did nothing to curb the pro-Palestinian marches that massively amplified extremism; intentionally or not. Labour and the Green Party disgustingly politicised the October 7th; then and now. Farage’s school friends recounting alleged antisemitic accusations towards Nigel as a teenager was a doubter. Combined with Sarah Pochin agreeing with a caller on LBC how she preferred white models in advertising I drifted away. I remain politically homeless unless Burnham can turn Labour around on this one issue. All Labour have done is give terrorists a platform in the U.K. for personal gain. It’s unforgivable. The turquoise wave on May 7th did seem impressive but it was soon clear it had been tactical to turf Starmer out; as support for Burnham will be. Burnham is a great guy. Some of us are old enough to remember his whole career. Will Andy will address the Jewish vote? They have no where to turn while Kemi says one thing one day and flips the next and Reform attract alleged money laundering scandals. Britons can’t fight antisemitism alone without a single U.K political party who will attract Jews and their supporters. We’ve literally been forgotten about.

@moshepargod Amaratzus. You could make the same argument about babylonian aramaic. Does he think the Bavli is loathsome? Cheap demagoguery which shames anyone seriously interested in Jewish wisdom of any kind...

If only the British communal leadership had the stomach to say we will not platform spreaders of the genocide blood libel, like Ed Davey, at a national rally against Antisemitism, things might look at bit different in the UK.

The only party led by a Jewish leader, who’s faced Nazi salutes and antisemitic abuse on our streets this month, wasn’t invited. Reform's leader, with a track record of antisemitism, is invited. I know, like every party, we’ve got work to do on tackling antisemitism. But tackling hate requires cross-party solidarity, not ideological gatekeeping. theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/m…

The announcement for the retained list and subsequent goodbyes just doesn’t feel right. No detail on the contract situations, just a very basic goodbye and that’s it. Several of these players are champions and deserve so much more #barnetfc
