@Kokab_Khanoomm Crying for a green card. Ask for TPS. It’s the same story .Iranian and Indians came to study on legal visa. Now all of sudden,they want to stay and are in a panic mode because USCIS have paused processing applications and reevaluating if these people are needed here. lol

So who exactly are the “right kind” of immigrants?
Because right now, LEGAL immigrants, especially Iranians affected by the Dec 2 USCIS policy pause, are being blocked, losing work authorization, and pushed out.
We came legally, passed intense background checks, studied in U.S. universities, paid taxes, and built critical sectors like healthcare and tech.
America invested in us. Driving us out isn’t “America First”, it’s economic self-sabotage and a loss of top talent.

To strip legal status from Haitian immigrants who are working, paying taxes and contributing to our economy and fulfilling a healthcare need at a time when our healthcare system continues to face workforce shortages would be uncompassionate and misguided.

Unfortunately, what is happening right now seems to reflect the opposite!
Thousands of legally vetted Iranians who came to the United States lawfully are being affected by the blanket USCIS hold on their benefit applications.
These are fee-based processes that already cost thousands of dollars, not to mention premium processing, which itself costs additional thousands of dollars and has been rendered meaningless because all of these applications have remained on hold for more than 4.5 months!

You have always recognized that the people of Iran are not the same as the regime, and you clearly see the distinction between legal and illegal immigration.
Unfortunately, what is happening right now seems to reflect the opposite. Many legally vetted Iranians who came to the United States lawfully, and who strongly oppose the Islamic Republic, are being affected by the USCIS hold on benefit applications because of circumstances completely outside their control, namely their country of birth.
What was in our control was following every rule, every requirement, and every legal step, and we did exactly that.
I respectfully ask that this distinction be reflected in policy decisions and that legally present Iranian students and professionals be supported by lifting this hold. Protecting this community means preserving talent that strengthens America and reflects the shared values that define it. 🇺🇸🇮🇷

@SanDiegoKnight The H1 Visa is a major issue but lately I have reading about Iranian PhD and MBA students who take jobs from Americans after their making their arguments that they be given green cards to stay because they are educated. This practice of backdoor immigration should be stopped.

It is not opinion. It is basic math.
About 29k U.S. MD and DO graduates compete for roughly 44k residency positions each year. That leaves 13k to 15k seats that must be filled by someone qualified.
That is why the U.S. recruits top physicians from around the world, trains them to its standards, and integrates them into its workforce. They do not merely fill gaps. They sustain patient care, drive research, and strengthen the entire system. This is part of why U.S. medical training remains among the strongest in the world to recruit international talent and maintain high standards.
The system is also tightly regulated and deliberately gatekept through strict residency requirements. Even fully trained physicians from abroad must repeat 3 to 5 years of U.S. residency, reinforcing consistent standards while inherently limiting direct global competition.
If the goal is to increase the number of U.S. citizens entering medicine, then address the barriers within the pipeline. Expand financial support for medical education. Improve resident compensation and working conditions. Do not scapegoat the physicians who sustain the system. That approach does not lead to reform. It leads to failure and harm.

I need to talk about this. I moved to US 4.5 years ago to go to Kellogg. Got my MBA and now I work at a top consulting firm averaging 75+ hours a week helping some of the biggest American companies grow. That is literally all I do and think about - how to make these businesses better.
And I'm not unique in this. There are thousands of Iranians in this country doing exactly the same. Engineers, doctors, researchers, founders. People who came here the right way, jumped through every hoop, and just work. Really, really hard.
But this USCIS hold has frozen everything in their lives. Green cards, H-1Bs, OPT for students graduating in weeks... even spouses of American citizens can't get their cases processed. People who've been here for years and did nothing wrong.
And the part that kills me is I'm hearing from really talented friends that they are seriously looking at leaving for Canada or UK. These are people America invested in and should be fighting to keep, and instead we're pushing them out the door. How does that make any sense? How is this good for America?

Americans should be employed. America must always come first. ✅
At the same time, highly skilled Iranian immigrants are a small minority, filling critical shortages in medicine, driving innovation in tech, and advancing research. They’re not taking jobs, they’re strengthening America.
Secure the border. Enforce the law. And give opportunity to those who help America lead.
After decades under a brutal regime, Iranians who come here legally are simply asking for a fair chance.
