@balakoteswar Mmm, I think I would have liked old twitter! Payouts created content in abundance but also reduced the average post quality, willingness to experiment and genuine conversations.
Feels like this is the trend in the world currently
English

Those were the early Twitter days, no obsession with followers, impressions, or going viral. People simply shared content, thoughts, memes, and moments for fun and genuine interaction.
Now with payouts 💰 becoming the new norm on X, the platform feels more like a race for viral posts, engagement bait, and follower growth. The vibe has shifted from authentic conversations to chasing numbers.
But if you spend your time carefully and selectively, you can still find genuine knowledge, meaningful discussions, and quality content on this platform.

Today I crossed 600+ followers, made a lot of friends here, and connected with so many smart builders, devs, and indie hackers ☺️
A lot of people asked what helped me grow, so here’s my answer:
• I mostly focused on connecting with other small to mid-sized accounts in my niche and left thoughtful replies on posts or projects I genuinely found interesting. Those interactions naturally led to mutual support.
• I tried to be genuine and supportive, spending time reviewing others’ projects (if asked) or answering questions. This helped me make friends and stay motivated.
• For posting: quality > quantity. I only shared things that genuinely interested or surprised me.
• My two posts about my own progress performed incredibly well, so don’t be afraid to share your journey publicly.
• Always reply to early comments (or all if possible) on your posts. It boosts reach and sparks better conversations. Like wise don’t be shy to ask questions on other people’s posts, they will appreciate it!
• Lastly, you don’t need to spend your entire day on X even if it sometimes feels like it :) I work full-time and mostly used my commute, waiting times, or while cooking (2-3 hours a day on average). Consistency and good posts matter more!
And honestly… probably a bit of algorithm luck too 😄
Most importantly: make friends, support others, and have fun here 🤝
What has helped you grow or meet great people on X so far?

@balakoteswar Wow, you've been here since 2010. How was it then compared to now?

@yashhq_22 Currently still building the product
And trying to build up reach on X and TikTok in parallel!

@LauraLunaTech That's astronomical growth! Keep pushing, Laura 👍🏻

@AdityaBehe64144 I tried my best to explain what I did, but obviously a little bit of algorithm luck is involved as well

@fivepointscap @GrizMeta Maybe the BitBoy Crypto situation?
In Germany, a lot of these guys go into insurance and piss everyone they know off by trying to sell them bad insurance, or they liquidate their parents' life savings for“safe“ crypto investments or dropshipping inventory!

@GrizMeta Lmaooo what’s the male version of this? The “How it’s going” portion I mean

@ZilchfpBrandon Interesting note, thanks for sharing!
Will try out modifying my prompts to see if the output improves!

I was reading OpenAI’s developer guidance today and had a slightly uncomfortable thought:
maybe we’ve been over-prompting.
Earlier this year, it felt like everyone was trying to win by writing longer prompts: more context, more rules, more examples, more “always do this / never do that.”
It made sense at the time. Longer felt safer.
But with GPT-5.5, that instinct starts to feel less useful.
The guidance points in a different direction: don’t write prompts like operating manuals. Write them like acceptance criteria.
Less micromanaging.
More clarity on what “great” looks like.
Maybe the next phase of prompting is not about adding more instructions.
It’s about knowing what to delete.
