@grant_farquhar @carlworker Shocking to think Carl is a "small business owner" when he doesn't even know these basic facts. WTF is he operating? A 1 man call center?

Seriously thanks for nothing Brook Van Velden, human life is worth more than you know, women’s work is worth every form of equity and justice, I hope the harm you have led stops now.

@michaelwoodnz @RobSuisted Your and idiot. There has been more electric cars bought in the last two weeks per annum than under the clean car discount. It was just another labour wealth transfer

The clean car discount was making New Zealand’s vehicle fleet cleaner, cheaper to run, and helping us to be more resilient in an unstable world. Its cancellation was a massive own goal by the Luxon Government and is now seriously costing New Zealand.

@JonesVincentt Shows how little he knows about the economy. The GST increase will be offset by people not spending on other things. If chippy thinks kiwis won’t change their spending habits to fit their budget, he’s an idiot. Higher fuel prices already make public transport cheaper. 🤦

Just got back from visiting Mt Roskill & Avondale fire stations to show my support for striking fire fighters. Safe fire trucks, enough gear for the job, and fair pay are not too much to ask for the people who keep us safe. It’s time for the govt to listen & show some leadership.

@Dysfunc80937081 @rtaonui No Labour didn’t want to have the conversation. The govt could of bought it off the fuel companies or bought into it

@backblock100 @rtaonui But it explains why we don't have more storage no one wants to pay for it. It's why MP closed. No one wanted to pay to keep it open.

@LesserMegadeath @GregPresland We are now exposed. It’s the byproducts that will hit us the most. Bitumen and CO2. Roading will slow and so will anything that uses CO2

@backblock100 @GregPresland both government should of made sure we had storage maximised. (also got off oil as much as possible )but 100 days would be 2400 million litres, sounds unfeasible on a topic with lots of bollocks spun. fact is we burn a shit load of fuel like idiots

@backblock100 @rtaonui Diesel up to a year for petrol under six months. Japan has cheaper fuel thanks to less tax and more government support for the petroleum industry. Since 2022 alone, Japan has spent over $40 billion in subsidies to refiners to artificially cap domestic gasoline prices.

What have we become as a society? A person sitting on the street with a discarded cup, hoping someone might drop in a $2 coin — and instead of help, they’re told to move on. If they don’t? They can be charged. Fined. Criminalised. Thousands of dollars in fines… for someone who clearly has nothing. Think about that for a moment. What lesson are we teaching here? Because it’s not about accountability. It’s not about safety. It’s not even about solutions. It’s about criminalising the homeless. Criminalising the vulnerable. Criminalising people who are already at the very bottom. And at the same time? We underfund mental health. We turn people away from services. We leave whānau without support until they hit crisis point. Then when they fall through the cracks — we punish them for it. What does that say about us? What does that say about our humanity? We cannot fine our way out of homelessness. We cannot police our way out of poverty. And we certainly cannot build stronger communities by pushing people further to the margins. If we are serious about change, then let’s start investing in real solutions: Housing. Mental health support. Addiction services. Whānau-centred care. Because right now, all we are doing is making a hard life even harder — and calling it policy. We can do better than this. We should do better than this.

Those of us still driving ice cars are doing so for a myriad of reasons but we all know EVs are better & cheaper. Everyone I know intends their next car to be electric. We’ll all be there soon. And I can’t wait.

Is this what Simeon Brown meant by a 'sensible' approach to speed limits? Crashes which kill children? This child might not be dead if Brown and the government did not increase speed limits, against all evidence, to fuel an ideological culture war so they could rile up votes.
