I’m not obtuse, I understand their double standards and the quiet parts about what actually triggers them and what doesn’t. The issue is they’re constantly wrestling with where to draw these subjective, nonsensical lines around gender roles and sexuality because they’re not allowed to acknowledge those things in a more nuanced way. Gayness or even just gender role nonconformity upsets them so much because to allow it, philosophically, means challenging so much of their deeply rooted prejudices - which would mean acknowledging people CAN be happy and feel fulfilled outside of the fundamentalist norms they’ve been taught (manipulated into believing) are the ONLY, true way of living. This is why religion itself was so crucial during the Reagan era, because it’s so effective in controlling the culture war and interweaving spiritual identity with political platforms. So it’s a complex, nuanced problem. Conservatives are triggered just by the mere visibility of people who are different than them and it’s a testament to the absolute brainrot it requires to be conservative in the first place. They think they’re, “fighting,” to preserve some remnant of a gay-less or gender binary past they think is being stolen to them, simply by gay people or others challenging those norms. But that past never existed and the only way to remove gayness from visibility is oppression and suppression. It’s not some modern problem to be fixed. Men who don’t look or act or think like you want them to will always exist. Gay people always have existed and will always exist. Real societal freedom is in shedding irrational roles and norms and embracing the diversity of the human experience. Let people fucking dance, it has no impact on your life.

@FedEx should stop providing delivery dates for packages. It never fails that the delivery date provided is never the actual delivery date, a delay in delivery is inevitable. Packages that sit in one location for 48 hours is also a common occurrence. The worst carrier, bar none.
