@Gingerjaggoff @dcpetterson Even the democrats best candidate isn’t a good candidate. I look at them and think “the whole country and this is the best they have?” Progressives have ruined the party

@dcpetterson If the DNC actually let the best candidate run in 16 and 24, maybe things would be different. Bernie had a better chance in 16, probably would have won also.

Rumor has it Justice Alito will retire at the end of this SCOTUS term (i.e., sometime this summer). So Trump will have appointed 4 of the 9 Justices. If you'd have elected Clinton in '16 and Harris in '24, by this fall there'd be 7 liberal Justices on the Court. Fuck you all.

@hutchinson I’m not a big fan of Trump but there is absolutely nothing about the current iteration of the democrat party that appeals to me. The Democrat party has become appalling to the average person, approximately 77 million of us should show how out of touch they are

@DetroitDaveCell @Geiger_Capital Fair enough argument and while I respect our soldiers and their sacrifices 100% but the ones that actually saw combat in WWII & Korea was roughly 1% of our population at the start of Vietnam

@mrcarstuff @Geiger_Capital Sorry, that's just nonsense. Korea was only 10 years earlier. WWII, which involved the entire frickin country, was only 20 years earlier. The great majority of the people who lived through those things were still alive. They knew what war was.

@ftdatl @shivmalik My first home was a seriously crappy trailer on a shell road. I made my way up the housing ladder by building and selling my homes until I could finally afford a good address that I paid cash for. Took four houses and 20 years but I am fully squared away

Dear whiners, stop expecting your first house to be equivalent to your parents' current house. I do realize there is a shortage of starter homes, but that's because of no demand. We didn't start with nice big homes. We saved first. We put down big down payments (I put down 20%) and we bought small homes. This is my first house when I bought it in 1987 and what it looks like today per Google Maps. 3 BR, but they were TINY. (My daughter's closet is about the size of that house's smallest BR.) In-kitchen eating only (No DR). W&D in kitchen (I eventually enclosed them in a closet.) No dishwasher. No basement. 1.5 bath. No A/C (I put a window unit in the LR and MBR). It was built in the early or mid 1950s, IIRC, so at least 30 years old when I bought it. Oh, and the interest rate was 9.5% - that "low" only because I put down 20%.

Dear boomers, can you afford to buy the house you live in currently with the wage you used to earn before you retired? If you can’t, then that’s the whole housing problem in a nutshell. It really is that simple to understand.

@DetroitDaveCell @Geiger_Capital Vietnam was the first war to be broadcast nightly on national television. Prior to this the average American had no idea as to the realities of war. Hard for the government to sell their propaganda when Walter Cronkite is rolling actual footage

Being born in 1954, I'm old enough to have seen and experienced the real America. But I wasn't old enough to do much to stop the decline. And then we had all those decline cheerleaders, like Paul Ehrlich, to inspire us. But yeah, for all its problems, and y'all do tend to forget or gloss over them, it really did used to be that good. The 1960s blew everything up, and then it metastasized in the 1970s and since. But here's the thing: what blew up the 1960s was the Vietnam War. That drove All Of It. Y'all haven't had an apology or any comeuppance for the bastards that forced COVID on you? Where do we go to get our apology for Vietnam? And all of you deserve an apology, because Vietnam is what broke this country. You want before and after? Compare 1959 to 1969. We get all het up today when we lose 1 serviceman. As we should. But where were you when it was 50,000 of your sons and daughters? Crickets. Us kids had to take to the streets to get it to stop. The adults totally failed us. There's all this fuss today about belatedly honoring the Vietnam Vets. It's an act of shame. Because y'all know damn well there never should have BEEN any Vietnam Vets. Too little, too late, so far as this guy is concerned. So just remember: when you're spitting and cussing the Left of today, America helped make them.

It was inspiring to watch the Artemis II launch yesterday — @NASA’s first crewed mission around the moon since 1972. Our space program has always captured an essential part of what it means to reach beyond what we thought was possible, and I hope the four brave astronauts on this mission will inspire a new generation to follow in their footsteps.

By the time I am 65, over $600,000 will be paid into Social Security on my behalf. That money would have been worth $1.9 million if I had gotten a 5% return. My annual interest would be $95k. The government promises me $3,075/month at age 67, which is $37k/year. HOW IS THIS NOT THEFT??
