GM! I wish I could say Happy Friday! But right now, I’m stunned, disappointed, shocked. For 11 days now, Germany has let a young whale remain stranded in a bay. The young whale is still fighting for its life and freedom! While many wonderful people came together, co-creating amazing and concrete efforts to save the whale — from funders ready to contribute, companies willing to provide equipment, and many locals eager to help — the responsible ministry of Till Backhaus has denied every rescue attempt and rejected all proposals as of today. Why? It seems more and more, it would rather wait for the whale's skeleton and use its resources for research. In all of this, Germany has shown one thing: it has mutated into a helpless bureaucratic colossus; a ministry seemingly paralyzed by an astonishing display of inability — and unwillingness — to act. Instead of supporting the many people doing extraordinary things, participating and coming up with plenty of ideas to help the whale — the government blocks them and any private effort to help the whale. If anyone still doubts whether Germany can pull itself out of the mess it's in — with these political "leaders" at the helm — Germany's downfall seems almost guaranteed. Our values in the US have always been about creative endeavor, hands-on solutions, pulling up our sleeves and getting things done. — The opposite can be concluded about this German government, the one responsible for Timmy, the young whale. Sorry for my sober Friday note, friends. However, as the whale keeps fighting, so should we as human beings. Better to act and do whatever we can — even when the outcome is uncertain — than to do nothing and watch our beautiful world destroyed. Please pray, support, or join in however you can. Good-Friday! Whatever faith you have, the story of Easter is part of you. —It's your story. When Jesus got stabbed on the cross—it impacted every human being on the planet. He democratized the Holy of Holies — making the path of resurrection (the inner path to the Kingdom of the Soul) —accessible to every human heeding the call. No intermediaries. He showed us transcendence. Transformation. The universal story. In nature, portrayed through the caterpillar to the butterfly journey. In spirituality, portrayed through Jesus' journey on the cross. While inner Christianity celebrates the joy and the potential for life in the here and now (!) — sadly often it's portrayed as just suffering + pain — missing its meaning and tremendous gift. Apply it to 2026: we're seeing the crucifixion of illusions, outdated systems, misinterpretations and power structures that are not based on Truth. Time to turn to your inner leader and heed Jesus' call to break free.
