last gen’s successful consumer founders (pinterest, snap, insta, etc.) weren’t on the bleeding edge of tech, they were on the bleeding edge of culture and human experience. most of consumer ai today is still more interested in the tech than the culture. in the fullness of time, i don't think they'll survive.

@Crystalejandro being over the top to describe simple things. Some people love to do this. When you notice they do it constantly, it becomes more difficult to take them as serious as someone who doesn't go out of their way to give a process an exaggerated description.

Why is everybody saying they “sourced” a designer item? Finding an archive/vintage designer piece for a good price on a resale site is not “sourcing”.

One of the worst parts of modern life is feeling like you have to investigate everything before you pay for it. Cars, houses, medical bills, repairs, groceries… every industry feels like a trap waiting for distracted people. Living is hard enough without feeling like everyone’s trying to finesse you.

For anyone who uses StubHub to buy/sell tickets, a cautionary post... I purchased four tickets to all three sessions of March Madness in St Louis on March 20 and 22 for $2000 total. When Illinois did not end up in the STL bracket, I sold the tickets on Stubhub on March 15...

Anyone else stuck in this weird cycle where work is so exhausting that your hobbies feel like too much work, so you don’t do them, and then you go back to work upset that you didn’t take time to do the things you enjoy?

@hydrothemc would be an interesting plan on the retros that they haven't come close to doing. Probably too much long term planning for them. At best they say oh wait lets bombard the market with 4+ colorways of a single model.

If someone asks if they can get you anything else, just say no. They don't want to get something else for you, they don't want to be rude by not offering.

@MikeMonaco_ it was maybe a fun cool thing when it was one brand. As a default thing for every unnecessary hat company... god bless anyone still making some in 2026.

Old Man Take: I don’t understand the appeal of hats with upside-down text. I’m not doing a handstand.

Coming around to the idea that if you were to rebuild Esquire or GQ today, it would have to look something like Speeed on YouTube Even the wine brand, Ridge, has worked with him With consumers leaning into personalities and niches over faceless corporations, it makes sense for there to be a strong, central host or face — like James Pumphrey here — to build a relationship with Accessible, visual, unpretentious, and relatable Natural progression I imagine is diversifying into a portfolio of personalities Barstool of course has done this in some ways. But in a bit of a different lane

@OSheaSEO ask them to prove it to spur engagement. Nobody whose opinion is an actual critique worth considering would probably even make the claim.

Several Facebook commenters have now accused me of posting AI-written content. Very frustrating because I research and write everything manually. The "old school" way. How do you combat the AI accusations? Or is it not even worth replying?

@mws Those rates seem low compared to some random results I've seen. Is this actually a cap on "new" accounts in a way?

@joeflaccoburner the average person doesn't think twice about the design of everything they come across. It never has and never will be that deep for them.
