If you don't understand logical rules, yeah. But in other Pauline letters he speaks of holding to tradition and words both written and spoken. The reason he said to Corinth to not go beyond what is written is because they were really screwing up and needed to stick to the basics.

@Goatedredbeard @IndianaBrunner I'm aware they are against them, as are most evangelicals, despite what you've heard or say. But your claim was that this passage was only meant for a specific time/place, and not for the church at-large. Your logic and the gay/lady logic are one and the same.

I’ve still never heard a good explanation for this verse from those who reject Sola Scriptura. “I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another.” (1 Corinthians 4:6)

Hey look, two things the Apostolic churches are opposed to. Scripture is for study and wisdom. It is to be held at the same level as tradition. It is not for personal interpretation. Lady pastors and the homosexuals go against scripture, tradition, teachings written and unwritten. So I'm not sure what you're getting at. Evangelical churches that approve of both of those things have no knowledge of tradition, Apostolic teachings or succession. Calling them a church is much akin to calling an Applebees a fine dining experience.

@Goatedredbeard @IndianaBrunner So going beyond Scripture only ever applied to the church in Corinth in one particular time and place? This is basically the same argument the gays use for their debauchery.

Get this for your children. We've only had it for two days, but listening to my kids read about Christ in language they can understand has made my heart swell. We are reading the portions from Christ's entrance into Jerusalem to his death and resurrection in preparation for Easter.

I dabbled in becoming a Catholic for many years. I was going through my emails and found where I had inquired about OCIA back in 2017. This year, 2026, I will finally be receiving the Eucharist for the first time. I am beyond excited, I think I'm probably going to cry. I wasted a lot of years on alcohol, and nearly ruined my marriage and family because of it. I went to AA and rehab and all of the other secular routes to freedom from addiction. It wasn't until I started taking my faith seriously that I was relieved of the burden of alcohol, among many others. My first confession is coming up in May and I just hope that the priest doesn't beat me around the head and neck, even though I rightfully deserve it. I guess what I am getting at is don't wait. Come home. There is no time like the present. Watch some Father Beard videos if you really need some conviction. I was baptized as a Southern Baptist, and never truly felt God's presence in my life. After coming home to the Catholic Church I feel His presence constantly, especially at mass during the Liturgy of the Eucharist, in fact it makes me very emotional. I quietly sing the hymns to keep from breaking down crying because I am finally relieved of all the stress and pains and burdens that afflicted me for so long. It's such a beautiful thing. Come home to the Father and the Son. If you were a close friend I'd probably use a lot more coarse of language than that because it's that important. In the end, the only thing that matters is did you make Heaven or not. Take it seriously and I guarantee the return on investment will be more than your wildest imagination.

This morning I went to Confession. No parking. Chapel packed. Thought I had missed it. An old lady pointed me inside. The priest came out and said, “Come in…it’s a Rite of Reconciliation.” The same priests who walked with me through one of the hardest seasons of my life, when Maja was in NICU, were there. I walked out free. And it hit me…this week marks 12 months since I came back after 25 years away. Never did I think I would be Catholic again. Now I have found the fullness of the faith. Grateful for every seed that was planted along the way. The fight continues. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Help me to be obedient and to fight the good fight. Christ is merciful. Christ restores. Christ is everything.

📜✨ "Hosanna: They Knew What This Meant" — Palm Sunday Was a Public Claim to Divinity Palm Sunday wasn’t a parade. It was a declaration. Most people see a humble moment—Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey, crowds waving branches, shouting “Hosanna.” But the people there? The ones who knew their Scriptures? They knew exactly what this meant. Zechariah didn’t just say a king would come. He said the King would come like this—humble, riding a donkey… and yet somehow, impossibly, this King is also the Lord who reigns over all the earth. Psalm 118 doesn’t just say “Hosanna.” It tells you who that cry is for. “Save us, Lord.” That word—Hosanna—is a prayer directed to God Himself. And yet… they shouted it at Jesus. Not by accident. Not as a vague hope. But as a recognition. The same crowd lays down palm branches—literally acting out the Psalm: “Bind the festal procession with branches…” This isn’t random. This is Scripture coming alive in real time. And then it gets sharper. The children cry out His praise—and when the leaders object, Jesus doesn’t correct them. He points to Psalm 8… a Psalm about praise offered to the Lord. In other words: He accepts it. Because He knows exactly what they’re saying. Palm Sunday isn’t subtle. It’s not just “Jesus is the Messiah.” It’s: The King has come. The Lord has come. God has come… in the flesh. And they knew it. 🎶 "Hosanna: They Knew What This Meant" — a track for Scripture nerds, converts, lifelong Catholics, and anyone who’s ever been told Palm Sunday is just a nice little parade. #Catholic #CatholicFaith #PetersBarque #HolyWeek #PalmSunday #BibleStudy #Theology #CatholicTruth #JesusIsLord 🔗 FOLLOW PETER’S BARQUE Website: petersbarquemusic.com X: x.com/petersbarque Instagram: instagram.com/petersbarque TikTok: @petersbarque" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">tiktok.com/@petersbarque Facebook: facebook.com/petersbarque 🎧 LISTEN TO THE MUSIC Apple Music: music.apple.com/us/artist/pete… Spotify: open.spotify.com/artist/07uvm7S… ☕ SUPPORT THE PROJECT ko-fi.com/petersbarque Peter’s Barque is a catechetical music project by Justin West. 📜✨ NEW SONG: “You Want The Final Say” — Authority Was Never Meant to Be Optional A lot of objections to the Catholic Church start with surface-level complaints. Statues. Candles. Mary. Tradition. But if we’re honest, those usually aren’t the real issue. The real issue is authority. The Catholic Church claims something modern Christianity often tries to avoid: the authority Christ gave the apostles didn’t disappear in the first century. It didn’t reset every generation. And it doesn’t belong to whoever happens to be holding a Bible at the moment. Scripture itself points this direction. Hebrews 13:17 tells believers to “obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls.” That verse only makes sense if Christian leadership actually has real authority. Catholics live inside that reality. But in much of modern Christianity, if you disagree with your pastor… you can simply leave. Find another church. Start a new one. Gather a few friends and build a congregation that teaches what you already think the Bible means. That system would have sounded completely foreign to the early Christians. Because Christianity wasn’t built around everyone becoming their own final authority. It was built around a Church that received the faith from the apostles and handed it on. And that’s where the tension really shows up. The Catholic Church refuses to pretend Christianity started in the 1500s… or the 1800s… or last Tuesday. It keeps pointing backward to the early Church, the bishops, the councils, the Church Fathers—because Christianity is something we inherit, not something we reinvent. 🎶 “You Want The Final Say” is a slightly snarky reminder that the biggest objection many people have to the Catholic Church isn’t statues or saints or liturgy. It’s that the Church doesn’t let any of us—me included—be the final authority. And that might be exactly why Christ built it that way. Well...that's because we are saved by grace through faith. Not by faith alone. That is a much later invention. We don't need to be "born again" as you understand it. No one time sinners prayer can save you from the fires of hell. You must persevere and follow the commandments of Christ.

@BillArnoldTeach And a lot of Paul's epistles too. I went to Catholic school and even Jesuit college, they never taught me that salvation is thru faith, despite Him saying that countless of times. I actually have a first hand connection with Jesus now being born again, I pray you all will too 🙏🏼

I watched a guy doing what Francis is doing get shot in the head when I was 8 years old. I was in the back seat by myself with my parents in the front and we were next to the angry car while the version of Francis was the car in front of us. We all three exited to find another route around the traffic and at the light we were next to the Francis. The angry man being blocked by the Francis got out, ran to the window with a revolver and shot the guy in the head. His daughter was in the seat next to him. I don’t know if they ever found the guy, it was the 90s. Don’t do what Francis is doing, it’s not worth it.

Mary was not a perpetual virgin. That would have made her marriage to Joseph null and void. I've never understood the need or desire to believe Mary was a perpetual virgin. Sex within marriage is expected and normal in a faithful marriage.

Protestants: “Catholics don’t even read their Bible or talk about it in Mass” Catholic reading in the Mass for today literally in every parish worldwide: (Just the Gospel portion) Matthew 26:14—27:66 128 verses in ONE reading. Protestants: “idk I just heard my pastor say it, and he’s always right”

@AbolitionRising I have a DUI to my name. Using that to discredit an argument is lazy. I had a severe drinking problem for 20 years. It's one of my biggest regrets in life, but I wouldn't be the man I am today without having gone through that experience.

Roman Catholicism did not begin with Jesus! The early Christian believers were not Roman Catholic! The early church was largely made up of Jewish believers, who also taught the believing Gentiles the scriptures of the Old Testament and how Jesus the Messiah is the fulfillment of the promised redeemer!
