@forgebitz @levelsio also use WhatsApp instead of email to communicate, the real people on the ground that can get something done for you are on Whatsapp.

also they try to give you the worst room, if you don't complain, you are fcked had this a few times, simply go back to the desk explain that this room is nothing like advertised and you get the better/real ones on the website i think they just try for suckers that don't complain

Booking sites (OTAs) give you the worst rooms in a hotel The best rooms go to members of the hotel loyalty programs Before I book directly I always sign up to their site and you're a member Just being a member when you check-in gets you the best rooms and upgrades if available

@levelsio Why not use a site like Booking com?

had a lot of very mixed feelings about work lately. i've been doing all of this for decades (👴) and realizing i kinda need to throw out most of what i've learned and processes i've used over the past 25 years. but to be honest, i'm struggling. i'm throwing so much at the wall and right now nothing is sticking. presumably the answer is picking something(s) and just focusing hard on them. but that's obviously no guarantee either (had plenty of failures over the years on things where i was all-in). this is the eternal entrepreneurial struggle though, right? there's just something about the current state of tech with AI that makes it all feel...different. i don't know. hard to quantify. part of me thinks the answer is to actually *increase* my output. try *more* things. make the feedback loop *faster*. but that also increases my anxiety. maybe my issue is that i'm afraid of committing. constantly throwing different things at the wall feels like experimentation. like i'm gather data. like i'm being productive. but committing to something and going deep on making it work...that means i could be wrong on a different scale. but not committing also means i'm potentially missing out on something truly succeeding (however it is i'm defining "success"). i don't know. lots of existential stuff going on in my head. if you read all of this. thanks. /end venting

In lieu of a musing about Founder Mode I'm excited to share that after 15 years @muckrack has made its first acquisition: @keyholeco will be joining the Muck Rack team to add social listening to our platform to help our customers gain deeper insights into how their brand is perceived on social media. We'll keep running the Keyhole product too! While Muck Rack has long pioneered using social data for PR, getting into social listening is full circle in our careers. Back in 2005-2006 I interviewed @ev and @reidhoffman on my podcast @venturevoice. Then @lsemel and I founded the @shortyawards -- the first and still largest award for social media -- back in 2008. Witnessing how much press the Shortys received from journalists who discovered it through social media in part lead to the idea for Muck Rack in 2009. We're excited to work with the Keyhole team to bring the world of traditional media monitoring together with social listening as part of a full suite of PR and corporate communications tools.

@g_xing @stripe Aah, that's really cool. Not all results seem to make sense, but I think this is because we use pause collection regularly for giving people more time to pay their open invoices. Happy to chat.

here's my annual @stripe feature wish list: - Be able to disable zero invoices during trials, we use sequential invoice numbering across our account. Every invoice number needs to be accounted for, these zero invoices (a lot due to free trial) are wasteful. - Be able to have multi-year subscriptions, I get it's not good to do this for auto-collected payments, but why not allow it for subs where you "Send invoice" . - Be able to ignore paused collections as churn. We often use this to give customers a bit more time to pay their invoices without needing to cancel the sub. In our book a pause collection isn't a cancel, so shouldn't be marked as churn in MRR reports. - Make it possible to zoom into Billing Graphs like the MRR growth one, so you can click to see which customers are causing the churn/upsell/... - Create a quote for an upsell or renewal based on an existing subscription, accepting the quote would schedule the sub to update - Be able to download an upcoming invoice as a nice PDF renewal quote. - Make it easier to switch the main currency of an existing customer. cc @stripesupport

@SePP @stripe 👋 This is a great list! I'm a PM on Stripe Billing, would love to set up a time to chat in more detail if you're up for it: milesm at stripe. There is one on here we have shipped actually -- we bumped the max recurring interval for prices to 3 years: #understand-limitations" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">docs.stripe.com/products-price…

We have over 520 paying customers, we only lost 5 the past 3 months. Not 5%, 5 in total. In 2023, we lost 20 customers in total. If your churn is low, anything is possible.

How I used to book hotels? Go to booking, compare locations, prices and book on there. How I currently book hotels? Search on Google Maps, find a dozen hotels, send them all an templated email with my dates and requirements. The latter is faster, cheaper and quality rooms.

The power of MS in the wild: People asking for a teams link for calling, people being annoyed you still use Zoom, ... Not using Teams is seen as not being able to open a .doc file.

@nathanbarry In your earlier blog post the 75% gets divided based on performance (score 0 to 4). Is this still the case? or just as stated here split evenly.

Profit Sharing We want everyone in the company to make decisions as if they are spending their own money—because they are. 52% of the profit in the company is paid directly to the team. It’s important that it’s more than half. 8% goes in a bonus pool for execs & 40% to owners

In the last 5 years, we’ve paid $3.9 million in profit sharing to the ConvertKit team. While most companies hope to return money to shareholders in a moonshot acquisition, we’ve created a unique model to help our team think like owners. Here’s how our compensation model works:

An ideal customer profile (ICP) might be ideal from a use case perspective, but be not-so-ideal from a business case perspective (as in no money). Making that ideal customer profile far from ideal.
