@techdevnotes I’d say it will be decent on day one. In six months it’ll be the go to coding engine.
English

@techdevnotes God I hope so. Anthropic and OpenAi take turns having the best models and I’m tired of having 2 different subscriptions
English

@techdevnotes Woah woah! Slow down! Need to release it first... 😆
English

@techdevnotes I will scream I told you so from my roof and never use another tool. Then buy a Tesla
English

@techdevnotes The real question: will Grok Build argue with me about architecture like a senior dev, or just ship?
English

@techdevnotes He said two weeks also grok computer will come last week and said last week grok build will come out and crickets
English

@techdevnotes AI is starting to get pricey. I used grok 4.2 in vscode and you can chew through tokens without doing much. I didn’t find it that good either. ChatGPT 5.5 is good but even more expensive.
I don’t know what Build will bring over vscode.
English

@techdevnotes There is nothing it’s past history that would indicate that might be true. Grok is the most simply inaccurate LLM I have tried.
English

I have to say, this week, I got tired of waiting for Build and went to Claude Code, and something called CoWork also magically appeared. All I have been playing with is Code, and it is very good. I do not care if the code, itself, is the absolute optimum or if it can vibe code a social networking website. What it can easily do, with only a few days of mutual acquaintance, is write code in my antique language of Delphi 7 to mesh with a 25 year accumulation of adequate, but not wonderful libraries.
The process involves it learning my wants and needs and style, and then adapting to it, rather than imposing a discipline on me. The conversational design process works several orders of magnitude better than trying to get Grok to chat up some code.
The cost is an absurdly low monthly rate - far less than a single hour of software engineer consulting. In less than a week, I am getting things that have been (relatively low) on my wish list. I am not letting it get into my codebase completely, but nibbling around the edges has been excellent.
This is nothing against Grok Build, which might be even better, but it far exceeds the concept of trying to build code via a web chat. Life is good.
English

@techdevnotes one can hope.. but i'm not going to hold my breathe, grok is a dog shit product experience right now
voice is pretty good, otherwise its an embarrassment - especially w/ supergrok heavy @ $300/mo.
English

@techdevnotes I have my doubts especially with the recent bet they've made on Cursor
English

@techdevnotes Then people will use it?
The cursor collaboration /potentiwl aquisition may make some worried, but it also is a way to acquire talent and improve the product offering unless they just integrate Cursor into X tools and Grok. It'd still end up as the same thing anyway.
English

@techdevnotes I hope so, but at the moment I do not feel very confident, I see lots of mistakes and have to check results all the time.
English

@techdevnotes What if it turns out to be delayed until they acquire cursor or some thing
English

Been waiting for a long time. But we’ll be lucky if we honestly see it anytime soon. I feel like it’s been “coming soon” forever.
I get the feeling that Musk is taking the “Apple approach” to AI development.
Basically, let the other companies spend their time and money doing the R&D and find what the markets like, and then just execute, fix, and improve what has already been proven.
But many of us just want to have an Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google competitor
English

@techdevnotes only if turns out first, been waiting for weeks now
English

@techdevnotes Then @SpaceX should make you the first man to Mars in recognition of your positivity.
English

@techdevnotes Okay hear me out… what if..? And this might be crazy but what if it.. releases? Like at all
English

@techdevnotes Grok went from a side project the industry dismissed to a model that had OpenAI and Google looking over their shoulder in under two years. Surprised by @elonmusk building something good is the most expensive mistake in tech. Ask everyone who bet against Tesla.
English

@techdevnotes Something powerful is coming... Hopefully sooner rather than later ⚡🦾
Don't count @elonmusk out of the game. Never.🔥
English

@techdevnotes I have no doubt that the xAI team will ship something that is not just good but great!
English

Then it just means the tooling layer is catching up fast.
If xAI’s Grok Build actually delivers, the impact wouldn’t be “surprising quality” so much as another strong entrant making agent-building more commoditized forcing everyone else to compete on reliability, ecosystem, and cost rather than novelty.
English

@techdevnotes This possibility is almost zero, although I hope it is very strong, but we need to accept the fact.
