Going to post this every Sunday in the hopes that critics of the Catholic Church would at least be informed about what we do and don’t believe. In a typical Sunday Catholic Mass, we say the name of +Jesus 12 times, “Lord” 19 times, God 15 times, and phrases like “lamb of God” “Holy Spirit” “Father” or “Christ” another ≈20 times The congregation says the name of Mary TWICE, once in reference to her giving birth to Jesus, and once asking her and all the angels and saints (“and you, my brothers and sisters”) to pray for us (“pray for me to the Lord, our God”), unless her name is mentioned in the Gospel reading. The first half of Mass is about God’s word (Old Testament, Psalm, New Testament, and Gospel readings); the second half is entirely about Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for our sake. The Mass is the pinnacle and purpose of Christian faith, and the Eucharist is the source and summit of life. There’s nothing more important in Christian practice.

The Scots took over Boston and they belt out OUR anthem, word for word, in a pub! The Europeans and Japanese at the World Cup have made the world appreciate America. (Maybe they can teach the Democrats).

@Riley_Gaines_ You have no clue wtf you’re talking about. The entire world knows it’s tainted because Trump; a sitting President caused FIFA to reverse a red card in World Cup. If the “Left” calling him out, then the Left is right for once.

The same left-wing media saying tonight's USMNT game is "tainted" and "unfair" because the red card was reversed are the same outlets who celebrate men dominating in women's sports. Spare me, please.

from best I can tell, trump actually had nothing to do with the FIFA decision, but is sort of taking credit for the FIFA decision, which means democrats have to hate soccer now, and republicans have to pretend they're looking forward to the game. great job, everyone.

One of the darkest speeches I have ever heard. I know he is antiCatholic but pray for him. I am sure people have treated him poorly but also sure that the guilt is more two way than he lets on. But either way this sort of bitterness will drag you hell.

No she didn't. Show me one verse in Romans 2 that says no one could keep the law?
Ryan Rhodes@TestAllThings_

@BrysonGray She provided the whole context. Instead of taking one verse and presenting it as a stand alone truth. She’s placed all the verses in their proper context.

@88mph121 @Jmitch82784111 @sola_chad If the Bible was insufficient then that means God deliberately left it incomplete The Old Testament points to our savior. The New Testament outlines his sacrifice for us. The Bible is sufficient. Jesus is our high priest and savior. Rejoice!

Evangelicalism and its tactics are perfectly equivalent with leftism. I’ve said it many times. The feigned pearl clutching, question evasion, emotional manipulation, narrative over substance and truth; I see no difference. These sorts have zero interest in Socratic dialogue.
The Bible In Context@BibleInContext1

During a recent debate on whether a Christian can lose his salvation, Trent Horn of Catholic Answers chose to use an extremely vulgar sexual example in an attempt to force Ryan from NeedGod. net (@needGod_net) into admitting that a particular sin would send a Christian to hell. The issue is not merely that Trent raised a moral question. The issue is how he raised it. There are countless biblical examples he could have used: lying, hatred, greed, blasphemy, drunkenness, adultery, or idolatry. Scripture repeatedly identifies idolatry as spiritual adultery against God. That would have been a far more biblical example. But instead, Trent chose a graphic and degrading illustration in a public debate, where clips would inevitably circulate online and where children could easily hear it. That is not wisdom. That is not maturity. That is not fitting for someone publicly representing Christ, Christian truth, and a major Catholic apologetics ministry. Paul tells believers: “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification…” Ephesians 4:29 And again: “But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints; and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting…” Ephesians 5:3–4 This was not careful Christian speech. This was crude, unnecessary, and unbecoming. What makes it worse is that after Ryan rightly pointed out Trent’s mistake regarding the Catholic Catechism and the Fifth Precept, Trent appeared to double down publicly with even more vulgar language on X. @catholiccom Catholic Answers should not ignore this. If Catholic Answers wants to present itself as a serious Christian apologetics organization, then it should publicly address this behavior and issue an apology. Not because Protestants are offended. Not because Ryan needs defending. But because public Christian teachers should be held accountable when their speech dishonors the name of Christ. This kind of conduct should not be normalized in Christian apologetics. Debate the doctrine. Defend your position. Challenge your opponent. But do not drag public Christian discourse into the gutter and then continue to use vulgar language when your misrepresentation of facts during the debate gets called out and corrected. Catholic Answers should respond & perhaps issue a public apology since Trent represents Catholic Answers. @Trent_Horn And Trent Horn should apologize. He used a similar disgusting tactic in a previous conversation with Taco Talks too. @taco_talks Lord have mercy! Why is this even a thing!

I'm not responsible for anyone who parts from communion with the Church, except for exhorting them to repent and return to the fold. That's the thing: we have a normative authority we can point to. Either people are with it, or they aren't. Protestants just start a new church when they don't like something in their current one. Catholics can point to anyone who is out of communion with the Church and say "That's not the way to do it"

@88mph121 @Mattman34 Obvious disagreement with your last statement aside - yes and therefore they’re not all under the same authority. Unless you’re willing to be responsible for the SSPX and sedevacantists then please apply the same standards in your judgement

It doesn't. It just won't ordain married men (though there are married priests who convert from other faiths). It's a discipline, not a doctrine. St. Paul said it's better to be unmarried. The "husband of one wife" was written at a time when many practiced polygamy. It isn't a COMMAND to have a wife, it's saying polygamy is not the way to do it for those converting to the new Christian faith.

Since the Bible explicitly states that the Apostle Peter was married and that a church leader should be the husband of one wife, why does the Catholic Church forbid priests from marrying?

Uh, America didn't exist until 1789 when the colonies ratified the Constitution, creating one nation. So, if you do the math, the USA had slaves for 74 years. Slavery ended in 1865 with the 13th amendment (161 years ago). So there have been NO slaves in the USA for more than twice as long as there were slaves in the USA.

Why I really despise heavy reformed Theology with all my heart & soul after being Protestant my whole life: Baptists & Heavy Reformed Protestant take away: - The Miracle out of the Eucharist - Leave children exposed to evil by neglecting their Baptism - Say all the holy orders & work are not necessary as long as you vaguely believe in Christ... - Take all the great help & structure away from Christian by neglecting the Sacraments. - Make everyone authorative on Scripture by their own, creating millions of contradictions & heresies & fights - Pin Christianity down to a book reading club with occasional optional meetings with coffee on a Sunday morning.. Conclusion: This isn't true Christianity, this is the secular destruction of the faith, making it unauthoritive, non intangible; non guided, dogmatically bastardized & secular...

FOX News wrote a great story on the record-breaking heat wave's impact nationwide, including 22 suspected heat-related deaths in New Jersey. Unsurprisingly for a Murdoch-owned outlet however they “forgot” to mention the underlying CAUSE of the crisis: CLIMATE CHANGE. Pathetic!

What verse says that? And that’s your definition, by the way. You have Protestant brethren who don’t define sola scriptura that way. “Only scripture” or “scripture alone” That means scripture alone is the final authority, as it’s inerrant and unchanging The trouble is, without an infallible teacher, each individual becomes his own authority, putting his own opinions and understanding into the inerrant text. Since none of us are infallible (and all of us can claim the Holy Spirit guided us into the understanding, even when we read the same verse and come to different conclusions), we subordinate the Scripture to our own authority. In other words, the meme ⬇️

@88mph121 @Jmitch82784111 @sola_chad The Bible is direct and sufficient for salvation. I would be careful to twist words to achieve an outcome. Especially if that outcome doesn’t support or lead to Jesus’s finished work and sacrifice on the cross. Why does any of this have to do with salvation? Truly???

It wouldn't matter anyway - Theologians know enough about semantic play in words that they could just point to a secondary definition of the word and capitalize on that! Which is precisly what you guys do with words like sibling or brother or sister. Even if I found a reference to Mary the Mother of Jesus having a "son", you would no doubt pull up a greek dictionary, discover that some people use the word "son" to refer to something else, and then claim it as the proper usage. Then you would claim Church authority and mic drop. The real evidence is that Jesus is said to have siblings brothers and sisters on multiple occasions and the context supports it. That is enough to shift the burden of proof to you, where it belongs. Because it is your claim that seems to be in contradiction. Nobody reading the Bible would think what you guys think unless there were a bunch of authoritative theologians pointing out secondary definitions and playing semantic games with the text.
