We are currently fighting a Wildland fire near the the Enchanted Mesa Trailhead and the fire is 50 percent contained. The fire is about 1/2 acre in size & forward growth has been stopped. Crews expect to be on scene for the next few hours. Photos taken 5 minutes ago by drone

Last week, former State Senator Sonya Jaquez Lewis was sentenced to probation and community service after being convicted of four felonies including Attempt to Influence a Public Official. She made a horrible mistake, and she was wrong. I hope she learns from this and can rebuild her life. As someone who has known Sonya as a friend for many years, on a personal level I was glad to hear she isn’t going to prison which is a hard place for anyone, no less a retired 68-year old pharmacist. But it is not lost on me that she was convicted of the exact same felony charge as Tina Peters — attempting to influence a public official — and yet Tina Peters, as a non-violent first time offender got a nine year sentence. Justice in Colorado and America needs to be applied evenly, you never know when you might need to depend on the rule of law. This is the context I am using as I consider cases like this that have sentencing disparities, which is why I have extended the deadline for clemency applications until April 3rd. I will be making decisions on these cases throughout the remainder of my governorship.

UPDATE on County Road 169 Fire in Elbert Lincoln Counties Sharing on behalf of @ElbertCoPIO and @LincolnCountySO ALL MEDIA SHOULD REPORT TO THE LINCOLN COUNTY SHERIFF'S SUBSTATION IN LIMON ASAP FOR AN OFFICIAL UPDATE (130 C Avenue, Limon, CO) As of 1700, forward progress near Hwy 71 has been stopped, and crews are shifting to patrol and mop up. Crews will stay on scene through tonight. The County Road 169 Fire started around noon and is burning in short grass prairie and cultivated fields. A Fire Weather Watch, High Wind Warning, and Red Flag Warning were all in effect, with westerly gusts up to 55 mph and sustained winds up to 35mph. Minimum RH is down to 12%. Currently estimated at 5,000 - 10,000 acres (note: DFPC is unable to fly the Multi-Mission Aircraft (MMA) due to winds, so it is an estimate only, and acreage will likely change once we have more accurate mapping). Resources on scene: 15 engines 8 tenders 7 Chiefs/Overhead from mutual aid departments Resources ordered: 2 Strike Teams of Type 6 engines (typically 3-5 engines) 1 Strike Team of Type 3 engines All are enroute from Douglas County One home was in the initial Elbert County evacuation order when the fire started; unclear how many homes were in the Lincoln County evacuation area, but it is sparsely populated agricultural. Both the Elbert County and Lincoln County evacuations have been lifted. Photo from the Pano AI camera was from around 1pm; the second photo was taken around 2:30pm
