I am totally radicalized on the issue of criminal justice. We should increase executions by like a thousand percent. Bring back hard labor. Bring back corporal punishment. Bring back public lashings. Bring back public hangings. Our ancestors were right about all of that.

@mrskatie @Brian_Sauve @realfemsapien Also, just to add some more clarity. Our event is a speed dating event… so a 40+ year old would have to go on almost entirely all their dates with a largely younger male population.

(her desire was to have 12 kids), but no one has pursued (my sil, a lovely woman but not one to put herself out there for a guy)... Just wondering how many good men are out there for that age range.

The illegal immigration issue is not difficult or complex or nuanced. If they came here illegally, they need to leave. That's it. End of story.
"But what if they've been here for 10 years???"
They need to leave.
"But what if they haven't committed any other crimes???"
Leave.
"But what if they have a family???"
Leave.
This isn't hard at all. We have laws in this country. You broke the law. You don't belong here. Nothing personal. But get the hell out.
It should not be hard for elected Republicans to articulate this point. If they do have trouble articulating it -- if they take any position on illegal immigration except for this -- they can also go. That's not complicated either.

If Trump is going to spend huge amounts of political capital on something ugly and difficult but necessary, it should be mass deportations of every single illegal alien regardless of age or criminal record, and defying every judge who tries to stop him. That is the kind of war, the kind of risky move with potentially disastrous political ramifications (but maybe not), that I would get behind every step of the way and so would millions of ordinary Americans. It’s an extreme measure that must be done and if Trump doesn’t do it, it’s likely that no one ever will.

@mrskatie @Brian_Sauve @realfemsapien For the singles mixer, historically almost all the attendees have been under 35. I would suggest attending the conference and forgo the mixer and meet someone organically. We give singles a different colored lanyard for the conference for this purpose!

One of the best things about camping/backpacking is how it resets your hedonic treadmill for the comforts of modernity. You tough out the discomfort to experience the natural beauty and isolation. When you return everything is ugly but a hot shower and a pile of carbs are divine.

The LDS church baptized more people in 2025 than any year on record - a 25% increase over 2024.
Last month there was a week with 10,000 baptisms & 2,500 missionary applications - both records.
2026 will blow 2025 out of the water.

I’m noticing a lot of foreigners who seem to not understand why we’d risk hundreds of lives, spend millions of dollars, and sacrifice several aircraft to rescue one guy. And the reason they don’t understand is also the reason people can’t be made American by a piece of paper.

@SeverusChud The worst part is that HBO had a perfect casting option right there. Ewan Mitchell would be insane as Snape, great actor, looks the part, is from britain differently from Adam Driver, and he is very close in age to the character. Snape was 31 in the first book, Ewan is 29.
