It was a pleasure to welcome H.E. Ambassador Rebecca Amuge Otengo, Permanent Representative of Uganda @AddisUganda 🇺🇬 to the @_AfricanUnion and @ECA_OFFICIAL and Dean of the Eastern region . Our discussions are part of our regular consultations, focusing on strengthening implementation of #Agenda2063, as well as the upcoming PRC and Executive Council ordinary sessions in Egypt. We underscored the importance of predictable and sustainable financing, prudent financial management, and the proposed 2027 budget. We also exchanged views on the upcoming Executive Council and Mid-Year Coordination Meeting scheduled for late June 2026. The meeting reaffirmed the need for continued engagement, close coordination, and collective ownership among Member States and the AUC for successful policy organs meetings. #Uganda #AfricanUnion #PRC52 #Agenda2063

The Ethiopia-Uganda FAM Trip began from the sacred grounds of Kasubi Tombs to the solemn silence of Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, where the Ethiopian delegation found themselves immersed in reflection and prayer following the suspension of this year’s Martyrs Day celebrations. From the Cradle of Humankind to the Source of the Nile, Ethiopia and Uganda are connected by more than diplomacy they are united by history, faith, civilization and Africa’s shared future. After the rhino encounter at Ziwa, the Ethiopian delegation proceeded to the Top of the Falls where the mighty Victoria Nile forces itself through a narrow 7-meter gorge before plunging 43 meters into the Devil’s Cauldron with breathtaking power. As the first light touched the palm-dotted plains, 76 mammal species including Uganda Kob & Bushbucks, Warthogs, Waterbucks, Jackson’s hartebeest, Antelopes & Other Grazers, the true “survivors of the night” emerged gracefully into the new day during the sacred period of Arafah Day (Yawm Arafah), a moment of reflection, gratitude and renewal. Under Uganda’s Economic & Commercial Diplomacy strategy, conservation tourism continues to position the country as a gateway for sustainable investment, regional tourism and climate-conscious development. To fully understand the power of Murchison Falls, the Ethiopian delegation descended from the Top of the Falls onto the Nile itself where a boat cruise to the foot of the falls revealed the true meeting point between rock, water and history. Here, the Nile wages its eternal battle with the Rift Valley rocks, exploding through a narrow gorge before sending mist, thunder and permanent rainbows across the sky. Along the banks stood elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles and pods of hippos witnesses to one of Africa’s greatest natural theatres.
