Cuba buys oil through credit lines, deferred payments, and long‑term contracts like every other sanctioned country. The only reason the fuel doesn’t arrive is because the U.S. blocks it or threatens anyone who tries to sell it. Stop pretending it’s because Cuba forgot to bring its wallet.

The number of obvious lies in this from Rubio suggests he’s feeling actual pressure. He claims here Cuba wants oil for free and the U.S. isn’t blocking it. Not true. Cuba buys oil. Mexico and Russia can use this clip to justify selling oil to Cuba.

Cuba buys its oil. It has always bought its oil , historically from Venezuela, but also other countries. The United States is blocking or restricting those purchases either directly or by threatening sanctions on any country that supplies to Cuba. There is effectively a near‑total U.S. oil blockade. The US is even blocking oil that Cuba has already paid for. Rubio’s claim is the opposite of what’s actually happening.
