The beloved wife of the pod and I were discussing the warp speed erasure of Cesar Chavez following the recent reporting about his alleged abuses. At a minimum, it seems highly coordinated. Strange. Not like other such cancellations which at least were argued over. Thoughts?

@BarackObama Need to stop calling it insurance when you cover pre-existing conditions. Its not insurance, its just like "hey dude pay my bill."

The day the Affordable Care Act passed was one of my proudest moments as president, because it meant that millions of Americans would have access to health care, some for the first time. The ACA also prevented insurance companies from denying people with pre-existing conditions coverage, allowed young people under the age of 26 to remain on their parents’ plan, expanded Medicaid, and so much more. But the ACA was always meant to be a first step. We still have to do more to expand access and make health care more affordable for everyone.

@zuki_2024 No, I don't think it's weird or suspicious. I think they're extremely embarrassed by it and trying to erase any public honor they've conferred upon him as quickly as possible before the crowds of middle aged women get bussed in to demand resignations.

@rkylesmith I'm going to be dumb or maybe just a jerk but I'm not sure that's entirely correct. It's a play on words certainly - Hail Mary full of grace. But if you're suggesting Grace as a Christ-figure it does have some problems. One being <spoiler> he has to be forced to do it.

TIL that if there were hypothetically a movie about a guy called Grace who boarded a ship called Hail Mary to sacrifice his life to redeem humanity there would be guys too dumb to grasp that this is an allegory.

The NYT just detonated Cesar Chavez's saintly halo...and the real tea is why they buried his rapist ass for decades, then torched him now in March 2026. They hid the monster because Chavez was their golden ticket: Latino civil rights god, farmworker messiah, murals everywhere, schools/streets/holidays named after him. Admitting he raped co-founder Dolores Huerta (forcing sex, fathering two kids from the assaults she buried for 60 years), groomed & raped underage girls in the movement? That would've nuked the myth they milked for power. Victims got guilt-tripped into silence: "You're killing the cause!" "Don't ruin what we built!" Huerta herself said she carried the secret cuz "the union was my life’s work...I wasn’t letting Cesar derail it." Insiders knew for years, did jack shit—no investigations, no apologies. Politics > Victims. Always. But why spill the blood now, right before his 99th bday blowout (with the epic 100th next year)? New Media cornered them like rats. Chavez wasn't their open-borders lapdog...he was a hardcore anti-illegal immigration warrior. Saw undocumented workers as wage-crushing scabs sabotaging unions & legal farmworkers. He ran border militias, "wet lines," ratted folks to INS, even tolerated violence to stop crossings. Pure MAGA energy from their "progressive" icon. With big anniversary events queued up nationwide, New Media was ready to blast those clips & quotes, turning Chavez into the ultimate anti-open-borders symbol: proof mass illegal immigration screws the working class & enriches elites/growers. Panic mode activated...they couldn't let him become a border hawk hero. So they preemptively canceled the saint: leak the abuse, cancel events, rename "Cesar Chavez Day" to "Farmworkers Day," erase the murals. The same left that shielded a predator for utility is now speed-running his cancellation for the same damn reason...pure political calculus. If Chavez had shilled for open borders? Those victims would've stayed buried forever, smeared as liars. But he didn't fit the script anymore, so burn the icon, sacrifice the halo, protect the agenda. The left never gave a damn about the raped girls or Dolores. They cared about the power his image gave them. When it flipped toxic? They lit the match themselves. Using AI for math only makes sense if we have already forgotten what math is for. The purpose of mathematics is not primarily utility. Most people will never personally “use” advanced mathematics in their daily lives, and that has always been true. Mathematics exists first for formation. It disciplines the mind, orders our thinking, and trains us in patience, precision, and humility before reality. Properly taught, math conditions the heart and the intellect to receive beauty and truth. It habituates us to recognize that answers are not matters of preference, that reality has a structure we must conform ourselves to, and that clarity is something achieved through effort. When AI replaces the work of thinking in math, it does not merely save time; it removes the very struggle by which the student is formed. At that point, math is no longer education but mere output—and the soul is left untouched.
