Only weeks ago, the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard were chasing sanctioned oil tankers affiliated with Russia and Iran across the world, intercepting, boarding, and at points seizing them for the United States. Now the Trump Administration is considering removing the sanctions levied on these same vessels, allowing them to continue making money for the regimes in Moscow and Tehran.

After recently waiving sanctions on Russia oil in an attempt to stabilize skyrocketing oil prices resulting from the ongoing Iran War and the threats to the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Fox News this morning that the Trump Administration may also waive sanctions soon on tankers belonging to and carrying oil for Iran.

The Pentagon has asked the White House to approve a more than $200 billion request to Congress to fund the ongoing Iran War, according to a senior administration official, in an enormous new ask that is almost certain to run into serious resistance from Democrats and Republicans in Congress.
