i saw a mouse with an X-shaped battery compartment.
first thought: this is stupid - who designed it?
5 seconds later: oh.
10 seconds later: OHHH!
the X slot fits an AA or an AAA battery - whichever you've got lying around.
the part most people miss is that the shape also makes it physically impossible to load both at once.
there is no warning label, no instructions and no way to screw it up.
the geometry does the thinking for you.
japanese has a word for this.
poka-yoke = "mistake-proofing."
the product refuses your stupidity before you can offer it.
i wish more things worked like this.

@kirietta My grandpa got a new phone and an app calling itself a photo recovery app was pre installed and basically hid his home screen and apps menu under itself and spammed pop-up ads constantly. I had to go into the phone settings to find the app and uninstall it. Insane.

Movies where a character embarrasses themselves are worse than getting shot. I genuinely have to pause the movie to do a lap around my living room so that I don't jump off a building. Second-hand embarrassment is agony untold.

a woman smiled and waved at me like I was her best friend while changing a trash bag. a man serving popcorn looked at me and pointed like I was a relative he hadn't seen in years. literally every employee at universal studios japan is like this. smiling and waving with such excitement and enthusiasm that you can't help but smile and wave back. I have never felt so happy around total strangers before because they don't feel like strangers. this is better than any ride any snack or any character in costume. I leave any theme park in the US feeling like I've had every last dollar ripped from my pockets and I leave this place feeling like I didn't give them nearly enough. they make you feel like the main character, like the whole parade is just for you, and the keys to the (mushroom) kingdom are all yours. I know amusement parks aren't supposed to be magical anymore once you become an adult, but today feels like I had a spell cast on me and I can't stop smiling.

It’s because developers back then knew how to set a scene, they knew how make a setting look serious and gritty, breathtakingly real for what limitations the tech had at the time. Developers back then knew how to piss and they pissed hard, not red, not clear but pure dehydrated gold.

@S1apSh0es For my school it was based on when you were processed. But it was a small school so it reset every time it reached 1k since there were never more than like 900 students in the entire k-8 and the 8th graders graduating made it so the new k-students got their old numbers

GTA 6 feels like it’s standing at the edge of two completely different legacies. One: You've already fucked up because a 5 year old usually can't read enough to learn on the internet that a silver bullet kills a werewolf, so unless someone tells the 5 year old that, they're not going to know that off rip.
Two: You're saying your character is actually so knowledgeable you know the specific breath attack of one of the more rare dragons in FR?
Blue dragons are exceptionally rare, and unless your character has a first hand account or knows how to read and actually did the research in the game- no, you don't just know that blue dragons have lightning breath.
You want to see if you know that? Roll a history check with disadvantage for your egotistical attitude.

Bank of America analyst is recommending that GTA VI launch at $80 to help set a new industry price standard.
Speaking at the iicon convention in Las Vegas, he stated,
“We think it’s in Take-Two’s self-interest, as a publisher and partner to many developers, to raise the price point for the entire industry.”
He noted that pricing GTA VI at $70 could limit other publishers from successfully charging $80.
