The lede on this NYT story is devastating. As more parents reject Vitamin K shots for their babies, docs are increasingly treating brain/abdominal hemorrhages for infants who hadn’t received the routine injection, per Maggie Astor:

Investigators say a Fort Wayne man cut off his penis, lit it on fire and then used it to set his mom's garage on fire. Christopher Peden is charged with one count of Arson. Peden was arrested last week and his bond was set at $10,000. He has since posted that bond.
