@ProductHunt Unfortunately, dicks.com when I was just a youngster. I was really into sports growing up and loved Dick’s Sporting Goods so wanted to check out their website. This was a mistake, and one that left a digital scar. Now it redirects to DSG hah

It is exhausting waking up before everyone in the company and hiding a tiny elf somewhere in one of the company dashboards

What are the best towns to stay within 2 hours of San Francisco? Optimizing for nature/family. Stinson beach is good example of what I mean.

6 months ago I began working on my own quant model that uses 16 data points/signals to help determine price targets for my stocks. The model is still a work in progress but feel free to give me one of your top stocks and I’ll run it through and give you a 12 month price target.

@morganhousel Deep hedging to make a small premium, in contrast to a large outlay, is a waste of time.

@sethrosen I worked with our IT team to buy me a separate Mac Mini when our ETL kept failing for a time sensitive project. I executed SQL via a Cron Job, which pushed to a CSV, that was then emailed out each morning. I put the Mac Mini under my desk. Took a while for anyone to notice haha

What’s the coolest hackiest thing you’ve built? My favorite was a shared excel file on Dropbox. My local computer would run a script, execute SQL, the save CSVs to Dropbox The excel file would pick up the CSVs and all would have fresh data (Was pre-nocode tools)

@naval I wonder if there’s been any interesting experiments around this? Not that memorization is the point of reading, but that would be an obvious thing to experiment for. Maybe emotional responses to reading versus listening as well.

@jackbutcher Possibly you’ve done this and I overlooked it, but curious to know a bit more about your tooling (e.g. Gumroad, Shopify, ...) Particularly interested in learning more about how/where you host the VV course!

@ScottAdamsSays Micro Lesson idea - seeking data validity. To your point of Nate Silver seeing the flaw in OC reporting, I sense many people don’t know where to start looking. We could make a checklist of common “gotcha” scenarios? medium.com/sfdataschool/i…

@CaseyNewton A little structure helps (i.e. showing a piece of paper). Would be awesome if you could choose between “Sketch vs. Paper” as a default

@chamath Long time fan of your perspectives and how you articulate them. Recode podcast was fantastic - just want to say thank you for continuing to share your context, and choosing the words you choose - they make all the difference!
