Happy Canadian Agriculture Day! 🍁🐮 Fun Fact: 👇 Most milk in the store is 1%, 2% or 3.25% milk fat. These jersey calves will grow up to produce about 25 litres of 5.5% milk per day or close to 8000 litres per year! That’s about 32,000 250mL milk cartons every year 👀 #cdnagday

Hey twitterverse - any dairy farmers willing to do a quick survey? I am working with a student group and they have a short survey for dairy farmers - please help and circulate wider. qualtricsxmbv4bjywf8.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_a8…

@SHendriks_PhD Hope it’s enough for most of those young animals to pass their break even and start generating profit. Would be a very interesting analysis

@DanShock1 Yea I guess it doesn't tell the full story though when it comes to other factors like rapid genetic gain due to higher replacement rates etc, definitely an interesting topic for discussion

In an interesting review of 10 high milk-producing countries, New Zealand was the only country in which the length of productive life of #dairy cows increased over time between 1961 to 2018 with a total estimated increase of 1.85 years contributing to a more #sustainable industry

I just landed 30 minutes early on my 90 minute flight from Toronto to Chicago where I was allowed to bring my carry on, fed a decent meal in coach, and had a comfy seat. Just kidding as we all know that would never happen in North America. It was from Monrovia to Accra.

@DanShock1 @JerseyCanada I guess I could have mentioned that she also already has a granddaughter. No wonder why I’ve heard jerseys be called the “invasive species” in some of the herds I work with. They start with just a couple and they spread like wildfire 🤷‍♂️ lol

At 3 years and 5 months old, this cow just had her third calf unassisted. ✅ 3 breedings, 3 heifer calves. Not much to complain about with a cow like this - except maybe if she wouldn’t calve at 2am on me! ⁦@JerseyCanada#jerseycanada

It's been a long road to get @SummitStation on track but we're almost there! We started w/ the idea of a small vending machine in the milkhouse & ended up here!👀 By summer we should be ready to start home delivery of glass bottled milk to #HamOnt.

Local Facebook group did a poll...asked people if you could only save one, and came upon your pet and a stranger drowning, who would you save...most people are saying their pet...#societyisdoomed

New data shows that the COVID-19 virus Spike gene contains all four human ribonucleotides: cytosine, uracil, adenine and guanine. The same bases used in laboratory RNA work. This is a smoking gun.

Europeans might pay more taxes than Americans but after yet another bill arrived in the mail, we're up to $4,728 *after insurance* for the birth of our daughter so I think I'd rather just pay taxes.

@BallouxFrancois Oh the quest for zero COVID risk ... I think we're still seeing people losing their minds in the post-vaccine phase of this disease. I was blocked by one for being slightly critical of his take that anyone not freaking out about H5N1 is a "minimizer"

Cats get infected by SC2 and they can occasionally transmit the virus, but giving any consideration to the insane idea of culling cats is just weird. A lot of people lost their minds during the pandemic ...

@fitterhappierAJ This potential has been troubling me for decades. We've seen limited person-person transmission before, way back to 1997. Equally unwise takes: 1⃣it's no big deal or 2⃣ it's inevitably going to mutate and decimate. Here's hoping our decades of preparation help

To the people saying it Hasn't mutated to infect people: Get the title of the article changed. My opinion is it is adapting and these infections will become easier.

Now I remember why I try to never check bags when flying: plane touched down at 9 and at 9:50 carousel is still not moving. Wait for luggage is likely going to be same length as flight from YOW to YYZ
