Trump, sitting with Japan's PM, when asked why he didn't tell allies like Japan he was going to attack Iran: "You don't want to signal too much...We wanted surprise. Who knows better about surprise than Japan? Okay? Why didn't you tell me about Pearl Harbor, okay? Right? He's asking me - no, you believe in surprise, I think, much moreso than us."

@JonahTuls True, but will Allen looking stiff, skipping the combine and only doing individual drills at his Pro Day, the uncertainties are building.

Trust the tape. Don’t jump a player way up because of a great workout and don’t bump a player way down because of a disappointing workout. If you think scouts are scrambling to change their scouting reports because CJ Allen looked stiff at his pro day, you’re way off. Already had Rodriguez, Trotter, and Allen in the same tier. This changes nothing.

@_DH44_ @JohnOwning Why would that make you concerned about CP? Was OSA enough of a fit to bang the table for and cut corners elsewhere for?

@JohnOwning Exactly! He may not be a perfect fit but he's enough of a fit that CP could easily "fit" him in. I'm unconvinced that it was purely a fit decision, and if it was, that makes me very concerned about CP

why we including clips where Osa is slanting into a single gap, staying connected to his gap vs stretch and where the LBs are the real issue on the play? Stuff that isn't pertinent to this discussion I can post tons of clips where Osa does gap and half kind of things well.
Akoye Media@AkoyeMedia

@All22Cowboys excellent breakdown as to why OSA isn’t here & what Christian Parker requires up front, which will also explain why he needed more run stopper than the traditional defense would. I woke up to this on IG make sure yall show em some love.

@PressSec Share the evidence that "Iran was going to attack the United States first". Surely we can do this now that their leadership and capabilities are totally annihilated?

There are many false claims in this letter but let me address one specifically: that "Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation."   This is the same false claim that Democrats and some in the liberal media have been repeating over and over.   As President Trump has clearly and explicitly stated, he had strong and compelling evidence that Iran was going to attack the United States first.   This evidence was compiled from many sources and factors. President Trump would never make the decision to deploy military assets against a foreign adversary in a vacuum.   Iran is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. The Iranian regime is evil. It proudly killed Americans, waged war against our country, and openly threatened us all the way up to the launch of Operation Epic Fury.   Iran was aggressively expanding their short-range ballistic missiles to combine with their naval assets to give themselves immunity – meaning they would have a degree of a capabilities that would give them immunity to hold us and the rest of the world hostage.   The regime aimed to use those ballistic missiles as a shield to continue achieving their ultimate goal – nuclear weapons.   The President, through his top negotiators, gave the regime every single possible opportunity to abandon this unacceptable course by permanently giving up their nuclear ambitions in exchange for sanctions relief, free nuclear fuel, and potential economic partnerships with our country.   But they would not say yes to peace because obtaining nuclear weapons was their fundamental goal.   President Trump ultimately made the determination that a joint attack with Israel would greatly reduce the risk to American lives that would come from a first strike by the terrorist Iranian regime and address this imminent threat to America’s national security interests.   All of this led to President Trump arriving at the determination that this military operation was necessary for U.S. national security, which is why he launched the massively successful Operation Epic Fury. The Commander-in-Chief determines what does and does not constitute a threat, because he is the one constitutionally empowered to do so - and because the American people went to the ballot box and entrusted him and him alone to make such final judgments. And finally, the absurd allegation that President Trump made this decision based on the influence of others, even foreign countries, is both insulting and laughable. President Trump has been remarkably consistent and has said for DECADES that Iran can NEVER possess a nuclear weapon. As someone who actually witnesses President Trump’s decision-making process on a daily basis, I can attest to the fact that he is always looking to do what’s in the best interest of the United States of America — period. America First.
Joe Kent@joekent16jan19

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC. May God bless America.

@glennbeck How about some evidence that Iran was an "imminent threat" to the US? Surly we can share this now that their leadership and capabilities are "totally annihilated".

Joe Kent, a top counterterrorism official, resigned today claiming that Trump was duped by Israel into starting a war with Iran. Ok, Joe. Where’s the evidence? The consequences of a claim like this are too dire not to be backed with facts. If you have them, I'll stand with you, but present the evidence.

@vali_nasr @FT Having no military assets left after a few weeks of conflict is playing the long game? Good to know. It’s a tough part of the world to be defenseless but I guess that’s part of strategy. 🙄

I write in @FT that Iran is playing the long game. In war, geography matters as much as technology. Iran commands the entire northern shore of the Gulf, looming large over energy fields on its southern shore and all that passes through its waters. Its Houthi allies are perched at the entrance to the Red Sea and along the passage to the Suez Canal; Iran is thus perfectly positioned to squeeze the global economy from both sides of the Arabian Peninsula. Those in command of Iran today are veterans of asymmetric wars in Iraq and Syria. They are now applying the same strategy to fighting the US on the battlefield of the global economy. Drones, short-range missiles and mines setting tankers and ports on fire can have the same effect IEDs had in Iraq, only with greater impact — disrupting global supply chains and sending oil prices higher. Iran could sustain its counteroffensive more easily and for far longer. Furthermore, a ceasefire alone will not lift the shadow of risk that Iran has imposed over the Gulf, which is now experiencing its nightmare scenario. That is why Iranian leaders are saying they will not accept a ceasefire until Washington fully grasps the global economic cost of waging this war. Businesses, investors and tourists may not return to the Gulf states if they assume that war could resume again. Unless the US is prepared to invade Iran to remove the Islamic republic’s leaders and then stay there to ensure stability and security, confidence in the Gulf will only return if the US and Iran arrive at a durable ceasefire. Iran says it will only accept a ceasefire with international guarantees for its sovereignty, which would probably mean a direct role for Russia and China. It may also demand compensation for war damages and a verifiable ceasefire in Lebanon. The US would then have to agree to some form of the nuclear deal it left on the table in Geneva in February and commit to lifting sanctions. Iran’s leaders entered this war with the goal of ensuring it will be the last one. Either it breaks them or radically changes the country’s circumstances. They are betting on surviving long enough and squeezing the global economy hard enough to realise that goal. Read full article ft.com/content/93b7b6…

The Cowboys have agreed to terms with offensive lineman Matt Hennessy. The 2020 third-round pick will likely be Dallas’ backup center and provide depth on the interior

I wonder if Dallas is at all interested in Deebo Samuel. Veteran WR depth, instant upgrade over Mingo who could also push Flournoy, versatile, even gives you some insurance at RB for Blue.

Highlights from Rashan Gary’s conference call with local media: - Will be with the OLB group - Confirmed he was hacked on IG before being traded - Called Kenny Clark when he found out he was being traded. Said it was “an honor and privilege” to work with him again - Says his run game work is “some of the best in the league” - Calls his move from Green Bay to Dallas “bittersweet” - Flipping this defense around will take “consistency” from everyone involved - “I see how bad everyone wants it [on staff]. I want it too, maybe even more.”

if you are thinking of trying this, I can say my experience during the process was positive I didn't do it for weight loss (I didn't even weigh myself first) and I don't think you should try it if that's your goal if your goals are longer term health (like mine) by resetting things internally, there's no way for me to know right now if it helped, but I don't see many downsides with far more potential upside I'd do it around a time when you'll otherwise be somewhat busy so it distracts from the deprivation, but it never really was too challenging for me NFL Draft is coming up next month and is a THU/FRI/SAT thing, so you could try during those 3 days and let that distraction aide in the 3 days - I liked the MON/TUE/WED personally so I could eat/relax on the weekend and then get started breaking the fast for me: - meal 1: cup of bone broth - meal 2: scrambled eggs & avocado - meal 3: tbd curious the optimal time to repeat this (not that I'm looking forward to doing it again right now!) but I would consider trying it annually - any experts on that? are there diminishing returns on the benefits gained? there you go, some thoughts on my experience for those interested
