Let’s talk about DoorDash Grandma 🧵 : what does it say about a society whose feel-good story is a 78 year old woman who has to work as a DoorDash driver to pay for her husband’s cancer treatment? This is the use case the White House is highlighting as a *positive* story. How and why is this something to celebrate?

@ImBreckWorsham It bears repeating: one indication of possibly being in a cult is defending the cult leader on grounds the cult leader doesn't even defend themselves on.

Trump defender on Trump posting pic of himself as Jesus: "I don't think President Trump posted that. I think somebody else posted that. It's whatever the media wants you to believe is what gets posted most of the time. Somebody else posted that. AI or somebody. President Trump didn't post that." Trump goes on air and LITERALLY admits it. MAGA defends it as "art." The cope is strong.

Q: Trump has repeatedly threatened civilian infrastructure. Last week he said that if his demands weren't met, an entire civilization would die. Are you comfortable with that? THUNE: I think you gotta look at what the president is doing. He's trying to open up the strait, which we're all supportive of

NEW: Democratic Senator Ruben Gallego admits he "heard rumors" of Eric Swalwell’s “flirty” behavior for years but didn’t believe they were true: GALLEGO: I heard rumors of him being flirty. REPORTER: And that wasn't an issue enough for you to not trust him to watch your kids or be close with him? GALLEGO: You hear this, and then when you're close to somebody and you- you know, you know his wife, you see this, you see that relationship, you know that, like, it maybe just isn't true.

@Player0129876 @Fullmetal150 @bonchieredstate It's quite alright if you believe that. The POTUS aligning with CENTCOM *before* making an announcement so that both the POTUS and CENTCOM's statements cohered to each other would have been an example of coherent, 'jointed' communication. What did happen though was disjointed.

@Fullmetal150 @FallacyFlagHQ @bonchieredstate Trump's announcement: “Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz,” Any and all. The WH needs better communications.

Cool. And my original comment was that the Administration's messaging was disjointed. So saying CENTCOM has contradicted itself is irrelevant. On the second question: "Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz" x.com/TrumpTruthOnX/… He posted that Sunday morning. After the CENTCOM release Sunday night, Trump posted again saying something that was more in line with CENTCOM's version. Then various admin people, including Trump, spent all day yesterday talking about the blockade in various ways, some of which aligned and some of which didn't. So, like I said, disjointed. And, it doesn't look like the CENTCOM version of the blockade is actually what's happening either given some of yesterday's activity in the strait. Thanks for playing along.

@FallacyFlagHQ @Fullmetal150 @bonchieredstate They report to the DOW, they're the organization that is actually responsible for carrying out operations in the middle east, they have never contradicted themselves Also, when has trump said this blockade would be a total blockade of the strait?

@avidseries Yeah, they are two very different people, and their decline shows up in very different ways. This line - "This makes him a less pathetic figure than Biden, but arguably a more dangerous one." Yeah, that seems fair.

Biden was clearly suffering from greater cognitive decline than Trump currently is. Trump's decline has more to do with deterioration in impulse control (which was never a strong suit of his to begin with) than in intellectual ability (also never a particularly strong suit of his). This makes him a less pathetic figure than Biden, but arguably a more dangerous one. Bottom line: People this old have no business being president of the world's most powerful country.
Noah Smith 🐇🇺🇸🇺🇦🇹🇼@Noahpinion

Trump is going mentally downhill just like Biden did at the same age. It manifests differently, but we can all see it.

It's next level insane that someone like Eric Swalwell knew about all the skeletons in his own closet and still decided to run for Governor? How delusional are these people that they don't think this shit will come up?

@fearsema @bonchieredstate Just hilarious that you keep posting stuff that's different than what he said a few hours before that. Then JD Vance suggested the approach was 'economic terrorism' yesterday. And Trump has intermittently floated the 'joint venture' structure as well. Crystal clear! lol

⚽ FAIR PLAY awarded! This argument contains no logical fallacies. Rather, it presents a well-structured analysis with specific data points, acknowledges losses despite the main claim, and provides quantified evidence for its conclusion about China's resilience. The argument provides specific percentages for oil imports from different regions, acknowledges significant losses (20% of total imports), quantifies strategic reserves with concrete numbers (1 billion barrels, 10% depletion), and uses this data to support a measured conclusion. While the premise assumes a US blockade scenario, the logical structure connecting evidence to conclusion is sound. #FallacyFlag #FairPlay #CriticalThinking fallacyflag.com

The Kobeissi Letter
The Kobeissi Letter@KobeissiLetter·
China is well positioned to withstand the impact of the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz: Before the war, China purchased ~14% of its oil from Saudi Arabia, 11% from Iran, and 29% from the rest of the Middle East. Russia supplied another 20%, with the remaining 26% coming from the rest of the world. Despite the war, Iranian oil has continued flowing to China, making the country the least affected Asian nation. However, China has still lost at least 20% of its total oil imports despite Saudi Arabia and the UAE rerouting crude through alternative export channels. China has also built the world's largest strategic petroleum reserve over the last decade, with more than 1 billion barrels of crude stockpiled. As a result, even a 2-month loss of Iranian supply would only deplete China's emergency reserves by ~10%. China has been preparing for this situation for years.

@fearsema @bonchieredstate So your response to the comment that the Administration's communication has been disjointed is to say 'I don't care that the President said something different, because here's what Centcom said'. Right on brother 👍

BREAKING: Trump tells NY Post that US-Iran talks "could be happening over the next two days" in Pakistan, adding the US is "more inclined" to hold them there because "the field marshal is doing a great job," referring to Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir. Iran has not publicly confirmed the timeframe, with IRNA reporting earlier today that no new round of talks has been scheduled.

NYT: Tuesday, the day after Trump’s blockade began, “tracking data showed that several ships had passed through the waterway, including some that had departed from Iran.” As I predicted, it’s looking more likely that Trump will say he won by just lying about what’s happening.
