exactly this - identifying as trans to challenge the gender binary is very similar to identifying as a lesbian to challenge patriarchy - it's all well and good but that term was already in use by the women who wanted to fuck other women and you're kind of killing the vibe

The way transmedicalism as a word has shifted to meaning 'being trans is a tangible thing that you experience' and away from describing the system of medical gatekeeping of HRT from trans people for not adhering to patriarchy enough is a tangible way that colonizers hurt us.
