@AltBias @woke8yearold This is the best talking point from The Resistance. No one is saying Trump is Emmanuel Swedenbourg, but the idea that the IRI was run by geniuses is belued by the fact that almost all of them were killed within the first week of this war.

@pascallisp @KenGardner11 @davereaboi It might, but I don't see it completely collapsing with no ground force. As many IRGC who have died, there are still thousands more who haven't had to actually engage in combat and can be used to suppresss dissent.

@GerardPerry13 @KenGardner11 @davereaboi That was a different war however. The regime was nascent and many felt patriotic in the defense of their country and mixed in with all the revolutionary bs with it pumped people up. The regime won't give in but pounding it enough and taking out enough people can lead to collapse.

@pascallisp @KenGardner11 @davereaboi Yeah, as long as there are bodies to staff the regime and its security apparatus I don't see them giving in. Regardless of how hard they're being pounded. They fought a needless war against Iraq for 6 years after they pushed the Iraqi army off of its soil.

@KenGardner11 @davereaboi First off it's a death cult. Second they rather die than give up because giving up means the brutal murder of everyone they know including themselves while not giving up is possibly death but also if they survive they can continue their looting of Iran.

@aryehazan Hamas runs a country in all but name. Gaza isn't recognized as an independent state but for all practical purposes it is one. And Hamas had an actual army there. Hamas doesn't care, up to a point. It's just sociopathic but even it essentially capitulated eventually.

@GerardPerry13 @NeilPHauer That's a load of BS, they hit tens of thousands of targets, a lot of that is civilians homes and infrastructure. even if its just from being in the blast radius. Most citizens rally around the flag when their country is attacked by a foreign power.

Talking to Iranians who have fled to Armenia, I have heard largely the same. One a few days ago told me: "I don't know anyone who was killed in the strikes. I know 22 people who were killed by the regime in January."
Karim Sadjadpour@ksadjadpour

1. NPR’s @EmilyZFeng has been interviewing Iranians who’ve recently fled to Turkey. She reports that “most people told us they supported the strikes.” npr.org/2026/03/24/nx-…

@coltsukfans @NeilPHauer 90 percent of that infrastructure is for military purposes or civilian purposes designed to prop up the government. Very few mourning the ministry of defense going up in flames.

If Iran killed all of Israel's leadership, destroyed Israel's air force and navy, had total air superiority over Israel, but Israel still didn't turn into Palestine, would the media declare this as an Israeli victory?

@abuivankai @hahussain Deaths. There have been a number of casualties. That said, Hezbollah's defensive operations seem incredibly weak-validating the idea that they were neutered by the last war.

Since 2000, Hezbollah has been selling the Lebanese the idea that it has become so strong it could hold off any Israeli advancement into Lebanese territory, or at least raise the cost prohibitively for Israel. With barely any losses, Israeli troops are clearing south Lebanon villages of Hezbollah terrorists and holding the depopulated territory, likely to become a no-man’s-land buffer zone. Pictures are from the southern town of Taybeh.

@VerminusM no one needs to declare victory in this war. This war is won when regime collapses, OR regime is incapable for decades in enrich uranium and make missiles. None of it was YET achieved. We haven't yet even tried to bring down the regime, with mass protests under cover of IAF/USAF

Hezbollah is once again resorting to a familiar tactic: when cornered, it turns to internal strife in Lebanon as a tool of escalation and begins threatening civil war. The Lebanese Armed Forces, together with the Internal Security Forces, must urgently contain the situation and act decisively. Those publicly inciting murder must also be held accountable. The LAF still has the credibility needed to rally citizens around it. Its presence will help contain civil strife, not trigger it, despite what some are claiming. The moment citizens no longer trust the armed and security forces to protect them, they will turn (even more) to their own communities for security, a very dangerous path at a time of extreme communitarian tension.

@chitowngirl1982 @LahavHarkov "...most of whom aren't Hezbollah." This is nonsense. Israel hasn't touched Maronite or Druse homes. The only people being forced to leave are those who can't live peacefully with their neighbors.

There already is a U.S.-brokered agreement between Israel and Lebanon, which the government of Lebanon has proven incapable of fulfilling. Israel is literally now doing the job the Lebanese Army was unwilling to do. Maybe after that would be a better time to talk.
Alex Crawford@AlexCrawfordSky

It’s been two weeks since the Lebanese Presidency offered direct negotiations between his country and Israel - the first time in history - and there’s been no acknowledgment from the White House or Israel.
