In a landmark public health achievement, Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬 has been validated by WHO for eliminating #trachoma as a public health problem. Trachoma, a neglected tropical disease and the world’s leading infectious cause of blindness, no longer poses a public health threat in the country. Unlike many other countries where trachoma elimination has required surgery campaigns, antibiotic mass drug administration and targeted improvements in access to water, sanitation and hygiene, the PNG’s success was driven by robust disease surveillance. bit.ly/43wbr8C
