Goodbye to all my friends It's time to go again Think of all the poetry And the pickin' down the line I'll miss the system here The bottom's low And the treble's clear But it don't pay to think to much On things you leave behind. - “To Live is to Fly” - Townes Van Zandt

Is there anything worse than a crying baby on a plane? I wish parents would control their children. It’s so disruptive. I refuse to believe a baby cries for 10 hours. At some point this is just bad parenting, right?

The Seattle criminal justice system is even worse than you imagine. So much worse. The Goosby case is bad, but ANOTHER murder case stuck in the mental-health defense loop in Seattle makes it look like a model of justice. On August 20, 2024, Jahmed Haynes, a 48-year-old career criminal, carjacked Ruth Dalton, an 80-year-old woman - as Dalton was about to drive to a nearby dog park (she worked as a dog walker). Haynes threw her out of the car. People at the scene confronted him and tried to stop him, but he backed into her, crushing her to death with her own vehicle. After fleeing he drove to a park where he stabbed her dog Prince to death - as people at the park watched - and ditched Prince's body in a recycling bin. The cops arrested Haynes the next day. He had a bloody knife and her car keys on her, and his fingerprints were found in her abandoned car. Haynes has a long history of violent felonies - including ANOTHER case where he hit and killed a man while driving drunk. Open and shut case, right? Not in Seattle. Haynes has a history of mental illness which his defense attorneys say leaves him incompetent to stand trial. And he refuses to take medicine for it. So the state has to go to court to medicate him over objection at a forensic hospital so he can stand trial. But once he's medicated, he's moved back to jail, refuses the medicine again, and again becomes "too sick" to stand trial. Keep in mind this has NOTHING to do with the question of whether he was legally sane at the time he killed Ruth Dalton - which should be easy for the state to prove, considering he clearly intentionally stole her car and fled. A trial was initially set for January of 2025. But by refusing to participate in his defense, Haynes has kept the case from moving forward for almost two years - and paved the way for a chance at an insanity plea like Goosby's. Haynes is facing life in prison and seems committed to dragging this out as long as possible, for his own amusement if for no other reason. As Dalton's granddaughter said: “This state is all about their rights, the criminal’s rights... He doesn’t want to medicate; you can’t make him… He doesn’t want to appear; you can’t make him… He doesn’t want to do this; you can make him, it’s his choice... "The scales are not even in our justice system. They are heavily in favor of coddling people like Haynes, and they completely are forgetting about people like my grandmother." Meanwhile, the main concern of the judge overseeing the case seems to be Haynes's privacy - the judge asked the media not to show Haynes's face at hearings (and they complied). I wish I were making that up. Here's Jahmed Haynes's face.

A Seattle man who shot and killed an eight-month pregnant Korean-American woman and nearly killed her husband when they were driving to work has been found not guilty by reason of insanity. Cordell Goosby m—rdered Elina Kwon and her unborn baby in June 2023 when they were stopped at a red light. Prosecutors did not charge him for killing the baby due to concerns about protecting abortion in the liberal state. After hearing testimony from defense medical experts that Goosby was "insane" at the time of the shootings, the prosecution agreed to have the case ended through the not guilty motion. Goosby will be committed to an institution and regularly evaluated to see if he is fit to be released to the public. ngocomment.com

Zakariya Hussein Hirsi, 02/20/2006-age 20, residing in Columbia Heights, has been "sentenced" to just over six weeks in the Anoka County workhouse under the terms of a plea deal between Anoka and Ramsey counties in two violent crime firearms cases. Hirsi was involved in a Jan. 2024 shooting in Fridley as a juvenile that left a man injured. In Feb. 2025 he was involved in a gun pointing incident in Ramsey County where he pointed a gun at a juvenile female in a vehicle in a coffee shop parking lot and told her he was going to kill her. He continued to brandish the gun while circling the parking lot in a vehicle. He was charged with 2nd degree assault in both cases, and an additional count of threats of violence in the RC case. Under a plea deal between the counties, the entire RC case was dismissed and Hirsi was booked into the Anoka County workhouse on the juvenile case six-week sentence last week. Also, the juvenile case and conviction record is not publicly available on Hirsi's criminal record, despite the fact he's now serving a sentence in the adult workhouse. Minnesota does not take gun crimes seriously. The state might let you skate with nearly zero consequences, but if Crime Watch learns about it, your name and crimes will be publicized.

Chuck Norris was going strong until the day he died. He literally just released a video for his birthday a week ago, on March 10th. The final words he left us with? "Life can bring us hardships, but know there's always light at the end of the tunnel. God is good." Amen 🙏🏻✝️

@JAMA_current That’s interesting, now can you tell us about injected aluminum? How many rabbits were in the only underlying study looking at that (Flarend, 1997)? How many days did they observe them? What was found at the end of that period?

@shooterjennings On point 3, it’s a very underwhelming tool. I’ve tried to incorporate it into lyric writing and it may give me a direction or a word I didn’t think of here or there but it’s generally not that good and more of a time waster than anything.

I’m sorry to keep it up with AI discussions but I’m genuinely intrigued at the moment. I think it’s very interesting that most of the responses to my posts about this go one of two ways: 1. I agree, I hope AI doesn’t become the only way art is made, I love real music written and played by real people and humans should continue to learn instruments (and/or this will be great for live concert ticket sales) 2. You’re just mad because, now, everyone can make music and your time as a musician in a real studio is running out There is a #3 which is generally neutral (AI is a tool but shouldn’t be the only tool) but this is far less. Everyone is entitled to their position… but it is worth saying that when I inspect the profile of most of the #2 responses they are full of AI generated songs… which makes sense in regards to their response. They’re defending their new found ability to make art with AI when they previously couldn’t. Assuming all the #2 aren’t AI bot accounts, it would seem two sides of the art wall are forming. I wonder where this will take us next…

@BillLieske It’s pretty wild that we’re talking about mandating the use of a medical product whose manufacturers share no liability burden. Manufacturers that, mind you, routinely pay out billions in liability suits for their other products.

On Tuesday, we reviewed a bill to eliminate the "conscientious beliefs" exemption from MMR vaccines (measles, mumps, and rubella) for kids in Minnesota schools and childcare. These folks often say that medical decisions should be between patients and doctors, and that it is important to consider people’s experiences. But when the rubber meets the road, they don’t. Which is why I always share my story. At age five, I had a severe allergic reaction to the MMR vaccine and couldn't walk for over a month. My doctor told my family to slow down the vaccine schedule. When it was time for the next dose, my doctor decided it wasn't safe, but still refused to sign a medical exemption over concerns about their license. The only option my family had was the conscientious beliefs exemption. Fast forward to Covid. Three separate providers told me they wouldn't give me the vaccine because of my reaction history. Not one of them would sign an exemption either. I was stuck in no-man’s land. There are families all over Minnesota living the exact same situation, and they deserve to have their voices heard too. This bill leaves them with no options.

Daniel Concannon@TooWhiteToTweet

Another day, another spectacularly horrific Black-on-White murder that no one hears about, that would be the number one story in the world if it were White-on-anyone-else. On February 13, Black 21-year-old Alexander Lamar Banks was driving around, admittedly looking for people to kill, when he spotted a White mom and dad, out for an evening walk, pulling their 3-year-old daughter in a pink wagon in Delta Township, Michigan (77% White, 11% Black). That's when Banks targeted them, accelerating his car in their direction, driving off the road, and smashing through the White family. Banks then exited the vehicle, retrieved a shotgun, and fired multiple rounds, hitting all three family members and killing 3-year-old Harlow Smith. He reloaded the weapon before approaching Harlow's dad and shooting him again at close range. Banks punched the White father in the face and beat him with the shotgun. He then grabbed the White mother by the hair, twisting her head and trying to break her neck when she attempted to intervene. A 72-year-old White woman named Barb Cook saw what was happening and ran toward the murder scene to try to help the family. With his gun empty, Banks smashed 72-year-old Barb repeatedly in the head with it. He hit her with such force that her hair and flesh were later recovered from the muzzle. After beating Barb, Banks dropped the gun and fled. 37-year-old dad Cameron Smith, 33-year-old mom Paige Smith, and 72-year-old Barb Cook all survived the encounter that claimed young Harlow's life. Barb Cook required brain surgery and facial reconstruction, and went into a coma (as of the most recent update, she remains in that coma). Now, we wait to see how easy the system goes on Alexander Lamar Banks when it's inevitably determined that he was “not in the right state of mind” and has the IQ of speed bump. To recap, a Black psychopath quite literally hunted a White family, in public, in the light of day, running them down with his vehicle before shooting them repeatedly and savagely beating them in someone's front yard, killing a 3-year-old, then bludgeoning an unrelated 72-year-old grandma into a coma, and virtually no one knows, or will ever know, that any of this happened. But everyone on Earth knows that a White girl said a magic word on a Minnesota playground last year.
