It's going to feel pretty funny to tow this 4Runner to an off-road event, knowing that if it gets stuck, the tow vehicle can probably go recover it. I'll be making a point to try and provide details on how the towing goes. First tow was to get the truck somewhere to work on it. This trip was on very hilly terrain in Western PA at an average of probably 45 mph and the truck used about 700 w hours a mile. Honestly not that bad considering the aerodynamic blasphemy it was dragging behind it. @mrkylefield @cybertruck

@ChrisMartzWX I don't buy a hammer based on how it looks. I feel the same for vehicles. Not how everyone does it, but, to be fair, the feminine design of trucks since the 90s really hasn't appealed to me at all.

If Elon Musk designed a Cybertruck that looked similar to my Ram 1500, I’d consider going electric. I’m not too big on futuristic-looking things; they’re bland and lack character.

“I spent 1 year with a Tesla and realized one thing: I was 100% confident in my misinformed opinions. I used to be an EV skeptic. I was wrong. Here are the 5 things that changed my mind: Charging - I thought gas stations were better. I was wrong. Waking up every morning to a “full tank” is the single best benefit of ownership. No more stops in the rain or snow. It’s a total game-changer. One-Pedal Driving - I didn't think braking could be improved. Wrong again. Regenerative braking is so intuitive that I almost never touch the physical brake pedal. Going back to a two-pedal internal combustion engine feels clunky now. Full Self-Driving (FSD) - I said I’d never let a computer drive for me. Now? I’m convinced it drives better than I do. The improvements this year have been mind-blowing. This tech is going to provide massive mobility for the elderly and disabled. The Screen vs. Buttons - I used to tell friends, "I like knobs and buttons." I laugh at that now. Thinking I need physical buttons is like missing the BlackBerry keyboard. The touch interface is intuitive, clean, and constantly improving. Performance - I knew it would be fast, but it’s absurd. It replaced a high-end German sports car, and the Tesla handles and accelerates significantly better while still being a practical family vehicle. Ignorance was bliss because it made me feel smart, but day-to-day ownership of the Model Y proved me wrong. If you're on the fence, the experience is likely much different from what you imagine.”

@realtalkstruth @TechOperator @elonmusk Why would I want any vehicle it takes longer than 5 minutes to refill 300-400 miles of travel capability??? Unless I never travel? I live in Texas. I travel every day just to work and back. On average, my travel is 700-800 miles per week. Screw EVs. lol...

Cybertruck is the best product any automaker has ever made IMO. Performance + comfort + off road capability + self-driving + cargo + hauling + looks unlike anything else on the road.. and then some. It’s just so unbelievably good. The ultimate versatile vehicle.

If the holes are exposed it's not actually a leak concern but a debris build up concern. When I had the slat added to mine it actually leaked more. The real leak issue is at the seal at the glass and applique point. I actually achieved a total seal without adding the slat but sealing the applique point.

I had a number of people ask for more detail on the tonneau leak slat replacement I just had done. Some folks said their SC wouldn't do this for them. Here is the Tesla Service Bulletin for this problem & fix. Hopefully this helps. cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/attachme…

Viewers have complained to me that they don't want a million buttons, but just like one or two buttons. That's not hard, right? Lots of people want one or two. No biggy, surely. Except everyone wants a different extra button. Then we're right back where we started.

Why would you buy a heavy-duty truck for everyday driving? Honest question. I understand if you tow regularly for work, but otherwise, it’s just a preference/statement. You can rent a HD to tow those few times. Diesel must be killing you at this point.

It will last longer than it's owners as it bores them all to death. My Camry's were so great they kept putting me to sleep. A few months in my model 3 and almost all my former memorable cars (mostly Toyota) became lack luster memories. I was a huge Toyota guy (lots of drama free road trips) I could have sold most people on a Camry. Now you couldn't get me back in one even if they made it electric.

@Motor1com Base Camry FWD is a fantastic car. Can get a low mileage 2025 LE for about 23K and it'll get over 50 mpg with a range of 500 miles with a pretty much flawless drivetrain that will run hundreds of thousands of miles no sweat.

Base Camry is about $7500 cheaper than a base Model 3 btw

@TechOperator You can add buttons to a Tesla but you can't centralize the bad controls of a non-Tesla to a screen.

Everyone is still too worried about their buttons, just like they were then.

@max_gagliardi Most people buy on overall experience and not looks first. There's a reason they are doing so well. If it was just about looks Rivian would have run away with the market by your theory. Making a great vehicle is about balance across all aspects of design.

Model S is the most esthetically pleasing Tesla model and they just killed it If Elon wants to sell more cars, all he has to do is quit making them all hatchbacks or weird futuristic trucks Rivian’s entire business model is just build a good looking EV because Tesla won’t

$530/month is not cheap or affordable. My group of friends love EVs and tech and also are quite well off, they would never pay this amount of money for any car. This is why I struggle selling Rivian on them so I hope R2 can help with this.

By turning a purchase into a 'hostile negotiation,' they’ve made the Tesla/Rivian D2C model look like a luxury experience regardless of price. It’s a classic case of an industry legislating against its own obsolescence.

Rivian just won a major victory for direct to consumer sales in Washington state, and it may offer a blueprint for how we can finally break the insane dealer monopoly in the U.S. First off, for those who don't know, it's actually illegal for electric car startups to sell their cars directly to consumers online in most states. You can sell a Tesla anywhere in China, but not in all 50 states. That's so crazy to me! Car dealerships often have a monopoly by state law that prevents manufacturers from selling directly. In some cases Tesla has had to actually sell cars on native America registrations to get around state law 🤦 This legal monopoly hurts consumers. Most people who buy cars online say it was the best car buying experience of their life. They love not having to sit in a dealership, being able to review pricing and financing clearly on their own terms, and knowing they're getting a fair price without haggling. If dealers offer better service and prices, consumers will continue to go to their local auto dealer. But they shouldn't be insulated from competition from brands that want to sell online, they should compete and try and offer a better service. That kind of competition pushes prices down and benefits consumers in a way that is sorely needed with today's affordability crisis. Rivian has been battling with Washington state and their car dealerships for years over their direct sales model. Then they dropped a bomb on the discussions. They threatened to put an initiative on the ballot that would allow people to vote themselves on whether to allow direct car sales. The dealers shit their pants. Rivian's polling showed over 70% of consumers supported direct to consumer sales. If voters approved the measure, it wouldn't just be Rivian and Lucid that were allowed to sell directly — any brand would be able to sell directly, including potentially Chinese EVs in the future, dealers worried. The dealerships quickly did a 180 and came to the table. Not only did they drop their opposition to allowing Rivian and Lucid to sell directly, they ended up actually supporting the new measure. They realized it would be better to support this rule, which just applies to existing automakers like Tesla, Rivian and Lucid, but not to newcomers like Scout or Chinese EVs that may want to sell directly in the future. Once Rivian got what they wanted, they abandoned the plan for the ballot measure. There are other states that allow voter ballot initiatives but ban direct to consumer auto sales, including Arkansas, Ohio, Oklahoma, Montana, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Those states could be Rivian's next targets. I applaud Rivian's efforts here and hope to see American EV startups like Tesla, Lucid and Rivian work together to make sure consumers have the freedom to choose not to go to a dealership. What would really be great is if we could get federal legislation giving consumers this right across all 50 states in one shot. We need to modernize these antiquated laws in our country. Nobody is going to buy a self-driving car from a car dealership. Barring federal intervention, we need lawmakers in all 50 states to bring car ownership into the 21st century here.
