@AbideBigD @Marcus_Mosher He’s good but he’s a NT basically. He’s not QW or Carter. Giants have nothing besides Nabers on offense coming off an ACL so it’s practically a lock they go WR with Tyson at 10. Like I said I get why the Bengals did it but too rich I think.

Bengals need impact DLine talent and it wasn't going to happen at No. 10 in this draft

@NFLBillsWizard @LegerDouzable Their goal is to actually contend, which requires finally finding the defensive force multiplier they've been missing for years. That wasn't coming from the draft

@vancemeek He's a NT, the fact you even said the word "sack" shows the unique level of his talent. As does the fact that he leads the league in double team rate yearly

Lawrence had 1/2 a sack last year. Youre betting on him getting back to the guy that had 9 of thrm. Otherwise, its a bad trade.

@PriscoCBS He had this impact on the Giants while having the highest double team rate in the league, if that's his "not as good" season then sign me up. The fact that people get stuck on sack numbers for a freaking NT shows his unique talent lmao

Wow. The caliber of defenders getting traded is absolutely ridiculous — they’re foundational pieces and are the ultimate force multipliers. Lawrence is one of the most unique talents up front that I’ve seen. A dominant destroyer of pockets who makes you think twice about calling 5- & 7-step dropbacks from Jet or Scat protection, which is what the majority of modern NFL passing schemes are built on.
Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter

Draft week blockbuster: The Giants are trading three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence to the Bengals in a deal that will include the 10th overall pick going to New York, per ESPN sources. The Giants now head into Thursday night with the 5th and 10th overall picks.

@Im_Cowboy_Randy @JJ7073697997456 @BenjaminSolak You had no point. The only individuals with personnel control are in the ownership circle, meaning there's no such thing as a "hot seat". It's the entire reason they've never made moves like this in franchise history.

some thoughts on Lawrence to Cincy... Dexter Lawrence is a 28-year old stud he spent most of his career playing vs elite interior OLs of the Eagles & Cowboys he's been double-teamed at the highest rate in the NFL he's now playing in the AFC North Ravens lost their C Steelers might start a 42-yr old QB Browns have Deshaun or Shedeur Lawrence should FEAST the Giants were TERRIBLE when he wasn't on the field last year, even in a "down" year for Lawrence: Giants defense with... Dexter Lawrence OFF the field: #32 YPA (8.4) #31 sack rate (4.1%) #27 EPA/pass (+0.13) #26 pass success (47%) #23 pressure rate (32%) Dexter Lawrence ON the field: #7 pass success (40%) #8 YPA (6.6) #9 sack rate (7.7%) #10 EPA/pass (+0.09) #22 pressure rate (33%) that was a "down" year for Dexter the team was top-10 vs the pass when he was out there bottom-10 when he wasn't want a larger sample? last 3 years: Dexter Lawrence OFF the field: #32 YPA (7.7) #31 pressure rate (29%) #31 pass success (48%) #30 EPA/pass (+0.14) #30 sack rate (5.5%) Dexter Lawrence ON the field: #8 pass success (42%) #8 sack rate (7.4%) #10 EPA/pass (+0.02) #13 YPA (7.0) #15 pressure rate (36%) and again, the context is VITAL: he was obviously the #1 best player on the Giants defense every team knew it they double teamed him at the #1 highest rate and he STILL made this big of a difference and that was despite playing some of the NFL's top offensive lines in the NFC East as it relates tot he Eagles and Cowboys for YEARS oh, and then there's this pretty ridiculous nugget:

@JJ7073697997456 @BenjaminSolak 2 things can be true, 1. Lawrence will be better than any player in this draft next season. 2. It is a massive overpay in both trade capital and the contract that he appears to be getting. Taylor knows he’s on the hot seat, had to make a big swing.

@BenjaminSolak 10 is a rough spot, they're likely going to miss out on all of the truly impactful defenders and are getting an immediate force multiplier. His singular impact on that Giants defense is bonkers.

The #Bengals deal for Dexter Lawrence is pending a physical, obviously. But this is the most out-of-character move by this franchise in a generation. The urgency and all-in talk this offseason amid years of defensive frustration finally produced a change in philosophy.

For whatever reason, too many fans seem to focus on what Elly De La Cruz isn’t, and miss what he is becoming. They focus on his future, more than his present. He’s 24-years old. He’s in his 3rd full MLB season. He’s played fewer than 450 MLB games. Right now, he’s hitting .281-.361-.563-.924 with an OPS+ of 152. He’s on pace for 30 doubles, 51 homers, 132 runs, 101 RBI, 50 stolen bases, 81 walks. That would produce the second 50/50 season in MLB history, joining Shohei Ohtani. He’s scored a run in 12 of their 16 games, collected a hit in 13 of those games, and been on base in 13 straight games. For as much as fans complain about injuries, and players not playing with injuries, Elly's played 234 consecutive games for the Reds. That's the 5th longest streak by a Red since 1970. He’s improving as a right-handed hitter, facing left-handed pitching. 2023 .184 w/ 2 HR in 122 PA 2024 .224 w/ 6 HR in 217 PA 2025 .236 w/ 5 HR in 210 PA 2026 .318 w/ 4 HR in 33 PA He’s yet to commit an error this season. I get it, official scoring isn’t what it once was. But then turn to the metrics. He’s T-3rd in Outs Above Average at +2. Last season he was T-26th (-3). He’s T-6th in defensive runs saved (+1) , after -5 in 2025. He’s getting better. He answers the bell to play every day. He’s impacting the game at the plate, in the field and on the bases. Stop worrying about his strike outs. He’s going to strike out. Everyone strikes out. Stop worrying about moving him to center field. He’s a shortstop. I offer this to every ‘move Elly' conversation: Perspective. Dave Concepcion: 30 errors age 26, 27 errors age 28 and 31. Barry Larkin: 29 errors age 24 Derek Jeter: 56 errors age 19 and 29 errors age 21 Robin Yount: 44 errors age 19, 30 errors age 22 Omar Vizquel: 25 errors age 20 and age 21 Ozzie Smith: 25 errors age 23, 22 errors age 33 Alan Trammell: 26 errors age 21 Cal Ripken: 25-25-26 errors, age 22-23-24 Young shortstops take time to learn, develop and settle into the shortstop position. And finally, stop worrying about him being a Dodger or a Yankee. He won’t even reach free agency until 2030. It’s 2026, for goodness sakes. Enjoy him. Appreciate him. He’s the best player on the #Reds. He’s one of the best players in the game.

@LanceZierlein @CoachRC23 For sure. Chad's feet & lower body control were absolutely absurd. He made those full lay out, toe tap sideline catches look so routine I'm convinced Palmer would just throw back shoulders to him out of bounds on purpose. Completely indefensible.

Per #Bengals The Bengals today signed unrestricted free agent CB Ja’Sir Taylor to a one-year contract for the 2026 season. Taylor (5-10, 185), a fifth-year player out of Wake Forest University, originally was a sixth-round draft pick of the L.A. Chargers in 2022. He played in 57 games for the Chargers before being traded in November 2025 to the N.Y. Jets, where he played in eight contests. In 65 career regular-season games (12 starts), he has recorded 76 tackles, one TFL, 15 PDs, one INT and one FR defensively, along with 21 tackles on special teams.
