Crimson Desert first impressions. The Open World is massive, it feels alive and it definitely holds up to my expectations when it comes to visuals. I know some reviewers have said the game takes up to 8 hours before it gets good but honestly I immediately fell in love with it and immediately started exploring. I found the puzzles and combat awesome to play with, once you get used to the controls which feel overwhelming at first, especially remembering all of them which can be a hassle first. The main protagonist Cliff hasn't clicked with me yet, right now I feel like he's just confused and there's not so much depth that he offers, I hope that will change as I progress through the story. The story itself and quests are quite interesting and I've actually had a good laugh in the beginning of the game when you have to help a couple struggling to clean the chimney. There are definitely some issues though, I feel like the starting stamina drains too quickly especially if you're using your wings to fly, if you run out of stamina while flying and fall into waters, Cliff will almost immediately drown because the Stamina bar is empty. I haven't encountered any bugs, crashes or stutters as of yet, however there are some ghosting issues when you enter buildings which can be quite distracting. Ray Regeneration on AMD GPUs tanks the performance so I just turned it off completely and instead I'm playing on Ultra Settings, which is a bummer because that tech looked very promising and made quite the difference when it came to visuals. Another weird issue that I had is trying to enter some doors or starting conversations with story character, the button to initiate the conversation wouldn't appear unless I went away and came back to a specific position before starting it. Some other issues include pop-in issues, camera movement and double NPCs with the same voice-lines if you greet them. Overall I think its a good start to a video-game that is quite massive in scale, there are still many things that I'll have to do and progress through before I give a conclusive opinion in this game.

Leaving it here tonight because I have to go to sleep, even though I don't want to stop. The way this is going I'm for sure putting hundreds of hours into it.

@Icewallowcumin Yeah combat has been fun. Other than targeting objects and NPCS, I have no idea why people are finding the controls bad... people can't remember more than 4 inputs? I can see already that I'll easily put hundreds of hours on this.

Combat feels amazing, idk what some reviewers even talking about?? The animations are super smooth too. So far this feels like a much more fun to play Dragon's Dogma #PS5Share, #CrimsonDesert

@malphier I am really having a great experience the first 4 hours and it just keeps getting better.

You should play Crimson Desert if you really like the pacing and exploration aspects of Red Dead Redemption 2. Just don't go expecting the same narrative focus. It has none. If you're the type of person who likes to play RDR2 for the exploration, if you like to "live in the world" and take it slow, like those people who do jobs, hunt, bounties and stuff and take their time, if you like to greet people on the streets and you intentionally walk slowly just to act like a normal person, you're gonna have a blast with the game.

Alright, first 4 hours with Crimson Desert have been very fun. What's interesting is the more I play and the more the game opens up, the more I want to keep playing. Controls (with controller) are fine. Performance on PC is great. Only issue for me is targetting objects.

@Colteastwood A LOT of games released on Xbox PC App release broken and unplayable for at least a few days. I have no idea what they're doing over there. Literally cannot boot them most of the time.

@opinali Every video they showed was slowly walking through a plain environment. Or slowly panning over an environment. Or a straight front-facing shot of a model with no or minimal movement. No action shots, no running, no fast-moving camera.

It can't even handle any fast moving object wells, but to be fair I don't know if those catastrophic frames in the FIFA demo should be blamed on the upscaler, FG, or the new AI filter. All of them have trouble with big disocclusions and very fast things. AI is not magic.
