I don’t think I’ve met anyone with the magnitude of diverse impact. Barney was the last on my schedule when I interviewed at @MSKCancerCenter and later my neighbor for the 5 years. His wisdom and kind advice inspired the beginnings of my group. Role model is an understatement.

NAM elects members each year who have demonstrated exceptional professional achievement and commitment within the National Academies. As a pioneering physician-scientist, Dr. Abdel-Wahab has made significant contributions to uncovering the genetic causes of blood cancers and translating these discoveries into therapeutic advances.
