Two episodes into The Boroughs and I have to say, is this the step-child of Stranger Things and the movie Cocoon? Geriatric Things: 90210 I’m not saying I hate it. It’s interesting so far, actually. Just stating the obvious. A bunch of old, horny, odd people in a retirement community face an inter-dimensional mystery box while learning to have a zeal for retirement life. Also, the Geena Davis obvious love storyline with the young security dude is kinda ick. She’s 70+, he’s 41. She can’t move her face from all the botox making her speech and smile awkward. Plus, was I the only one who thought that was the same actor as Hopper playing the lead security boss when he first entered the scenes??! 😂 It’s not horrible, not sure it’s great yet. Jury is still out at this point.

@Kintsugijin No, I don’t; I just fell like there’s more to it than I currently know. And when I read the passages in D&C that deal with polygamy, I don’t get the same spiritual impression from them as I do with other scriptures. That has always bothered me.

Our doctrine is clear about what happens to children before the age of accountability, which I would assume and believe applies to still born children and miscarriages in my opinion. @Kintsugijin Everything in life comes down to being "matters of faith" yet we still have prophets who receive revelation. That is just the area i would like revelation on. I have known so many women who have had to mourn miscarriages. It would be nice to know.

You’re not a serious person here. Expressing the church as LDS Corp vs its incorporation status as a sole corporation religious entity within the rule set of governmental society are very different things and you knew that is what I meant, and nothing I say will change your mind about how you want to frame it. 🤷‍♂️

💯 In the church we pride ourselves in knowing all the answers (at least we think we do lol), but we spend much less time discussing the right questions that lead to growth and spiritual progress. This is a good “portal” question because it leads you to a new landscape of thinking and perspective. That has been one of my constant queries is what are the questions that are like portals which lead people out of the mists of darkness and help us see the path before us.

It’s a huge distinction. As long as we persist in thinking God cares about our behaviors and not our very nature, then we’re stuck in that perspective, and can’t progress. We will fail again and again to perfect our behaviors by the strength of our own arm. It’s a discouraging debilitating point of view. It’s why many people leave the church because of fatigue, but the fatigue is just the symptom of that incorrect doctrine. Hopefully we recognize that the behavior is only a token of our obedience and not the perfection the Lord seeks for us. Once we do, we can start asking what are these commandments preparing me for? And hopefully once we are endowed we can start to catch a vision of the path ahead to approach the veil as Nephi teaches.
