Voters are waiting in long queues to cast their votes, but the polling process is extremely slow. I have been standing in the queue for over an hour, and only about 4–5 voters have been able to vote so far in my line at Neelankarai, Booth No. 282. This delay is discouraging and may affect voter turnout. There should be a designated supervisory officer to visit polling booths regularly and ensure that the voting process is conducted efficiently and without unnecessary delays.#eci #tnelection #election #electionnews #pollingefficiency

To save 1 litre of imported crude, India is spending 2,860 litres of groundwater. That's the single statistic missing from the entire E85 debate. E20 is done. The government's draft notification for E85 (85% ethanol, 15% petrol) is ready. Most reactions are either "great, energy independence" or "my mileage dropped." Both are shallow. Here is the actual trade India is making. The economic logic is real: India imports 85%+ of its crude. The FY25 import bill was ~$137 billion. Ethanol blending has already saved ₹1.08 lakh crore in forex and put ~₹92,000 crore in farmers' hands since inception. Every 1% of blending = ~$1 billion in annual savings. But ethanol is not a free lunch: 🔹 Ethanol has 33% less energy per litre than petrol. 🔹 US DoE data: FFVs on E85 get 15 to 27% fewer miles per gallon than on petrol. 🔹 The offset is octane. E85 rates ~105 vs petrol's 91. In purpose-built engines (turbo, high-compression, direct injection), higher octane recovers most of the energy loss. The catch. India's fleet is 90% E10-ready at best. You cannot pour E85 into a Swift. Flex-fuel vehicles need stainless fuel lines, upgraded pumps, 30% larger injectors, ethanol content sensors, and recalibrated engine maps. The hidden cost nobody is pricing: 🔸 E20 at today's consumption needs ~1,016 crore litres of ethanol annually. 🔸 At 2,860 litres of water per litre of ethanol, that is ~2.9 trillion litres of water per year. The annual water footprint of 200+ million Indians. 🔸 E85 scales this 4x+. 🔸 60% of India's ethanol now comes from maize and broken rice. India, a net corn exporter, imported 1 million tonnes of corn in 2024 because of ethanol diversion. 🔸 Retail sugar moved from ₹40 to ₹45/kg in two years partly due to cane diversion. The reframe most people miss: The ethanol programme is not an energy policy. It is an agricultural subsidy dressed as an energy policy. The forex savings are real. The farmer income transfer is real. Both are the actual goals. The mileage drop is a tolerated cost. The water and food inflation risk is the hidden tax. E85 will happen anyway. The listed winners sit in three buckets: 🔸 Sugar and distillery players with integrated ethanol capacity 🔸 Auto ancillaries making ethanol-compatible injectors, pumps, fuel lines, sensors 🔸 OEMs going flex-fuel first (Toyota, Maruti and Hyundai are already prototyping) Energy independence is not free. India is trading barrels of oil for billions of litres of water and millions of tonnes of grain. Whether it's worth it depends on which constraint matters more in 2040 — your oil bill, or your aquifer.

₹149 for a mandatory “Doorstep Service Fee”, for something like Open Box Inspection, which is Amazon’s basic responsibility, not a paid add-on. This is nothing but another form of daylight loot. Why are regulators sleeping while customers are forced to pay for standard delivery checks? @amazonIN @AmazonHelp

Paid tweets defending OLA as a national asset is sending me. Nothing screams ‘our product is garbage’ louder than invoking nationalism. Clowns burning crores on PR instead of R&D and service. Most complained brand in India. But sure, national asset.
sanju royan@royan_sanju

Ather’s dirty play 🤢. @OlaElectric is a national asset. Inhouse battery manufacturing from raw materials could power next generation of defnece equipments to Inverters and all upcomming EV vehicles in India. @OlaElectric & @bhash are national asserts to be protected and celebrated, @atherenergy and any other Indian EV companies do you even have the guts to open your manufacturing facilities (screwdriver line) to the public like Ola did ? Ola could also expand to Mosfet and SMD components for Power electronics and become the backbone of Indian defence manufacturers @bhash. As a EV hater my only compromise for IC engines towards EV is energy independence and even for the EV if you are going to rely on Chinese battries like @atherenergy & @Mahindra_Auto are doing for the sake of pure profit its utterly irrelevant.

Dear Thiru @mkstalin You were amongst the first of leaders to foresee this danger and organise leaders of South India at a conclave in #Chennai in March last year. We have to unite against this onslaught on the political rights and protect our voice in Delhi. Let us take inspiration of Babasaheb Dr B R Ambedkar on this most special days to “Educate, Agitate, and Organise”. Together… let us march. #LokSabhaDelimitation

Indian OEM CEOs should spend less time doing tau-style good for nothing bachchodi on social media and more time on R&D building products that actually work in India. Got chatting with this e-auto driver. The product has a range of 100 km and takes 3.5 hours to fully charge. An average Indian auto operates 240–280 km a day, so the driver has to allocate 4–5.5 hours just for charging. Because of this, the driver ends up working 14–16 hours to make the same margins a CNG auto driver earns while working 9–10 hours. How will we achieve widespread zero-emission vehicle adoption if we don’t build vehicles for the local context?

To keep a city good, the responsibility doesn't stop with citizen or sanitazion workers. A person who know how the hierarchy works in India just pass the dysfunctional urban sanitation to local body when there is much to do by everyone!! Any election this will impact.

Stop playing the victim card. A few questions: 1) Is maintaining roads the responsibility of the State Government or the Local Body (Madurai Corporation)? I'll make it easy for you, it is the Local Body (Madurai Corporation). 2) When Federalism is a core principle of our party, how can be be two-faced, like many of you "freelance journalists". Just as we condemn the Union interfering in our State Govt, State MLA's & Ministers should NOT interfere in the Local Bosy, unless in exceptional situations. So why am I asked to take responsibility for the performance, or lack thereof, of the Madurai Corporation? 3) Leaving that aside, is P. T. Rajan road - whose condition you bemoan - even in my Constituency? I'll make it easy for you - it is not. So why do you use it's condition to condemn my capabilites or performance? 4) So....you condemn my performance as an MLA or Minister, based on a road not in my Constituency, and whose maintenance is related to the Madurai Corporation, not my role at all. 5) Were you, and are you still not, following the template of wild accusations of the unwitting Candidate in my Constituency, who has no idea of the Constitutional separation of roles and responsibilities? (Those seeing this post, please check this person's timeline). 6) Do you know that steps I took as FM (6th State Finance Commission related, among others) have helped Madurai Corporation (indeed all local bodies) double Annual Revenues? Does that it make it more likely that they can improve infrastructure like roads, or not? Of course the answer is yes. Why did you not give me any credit for it? 7) Would it not be an abuse of power to direct the Madurai Corporation to prioritize a road named after my grandfather? 8) Are you in regular contact with the infamous press broker Parthiban Kumar, who is engaged in the aforementioned candidate's media management campaign? Anyway, it is not worth having any further conversation with you...let's go our separate ways...

Don’t do this. When you’re already in a pit, stop digging. People can tolerate poor governance, but not such blatant censorship. Instead, form a think tank and introspect on why you’re getting community-noted lately. I’ll give you a hint: it can’t happen unless your traditional supporters are turning against you. Anyone can write community notes. They don’t go live and appear on posts unless people across different ideological perspectives upvote them. Before the UGC equity issue, your supporters downvoted community notes against you, even when those notes had some merit, but now they’re not. They are actively upvoting them. So introspect and make corrections. That’s the only way forward. Turning a blind eye and handling it with arrogance will only make things worse for you.

This is what they fear, and that's why they want to stop the community notes! Community notes give a tight slap on their faces with facts, and they can't digest the facts. So they are trying to silence people using power. But they don't know, power doesn't always reside with someone, and the more one tries to get absolute power, the more they lose.

Don’t we deserve better? Indian side vs the Bhutanese side. Saw and felt the different last time as well. Enter Bhutan and you feel you are in a different place all together. Simple ask to my government, citizens and locals of Jaigaon: why can’t our side be as clean as theirs? What does it take? Frankly, Jaigaon (the Indian side) is a mess. Sadly :-(

My Bike Theft 🚨 Dear @hydcitypolice @HYDTP @CPHydCity @TelanganaDGP I parked my bike in front of the main gate at the Vamsiram Manhattan site on January 1st. At approximately 9:44 PM, four individuals stole my bike. I immediately visited the Raidurgam Police Station and filed a complaint. The Sub-Inspector registered the FIR on January 3rd. It has now been over 3 months since the incident. The CCTV footage clearly captures the faces of the suspects, and it is evident that they were regular visitors to the area during tea time. Despite this, the police have informed me that they are unable to identify the individuals, and currently, the suspects are not appearing in the area. Whenever I visit the police station for updates, I am not receiving any proper response or information regarding the progress of the case.

Ali Asgar's vehicle was carrying shoes. It was seized by GST officers. He held a press conference accusing GST officers of forcibly extorting money and refusing to release his vehicle despite payments. He also alleged that no records or receipts were provided. Days later, he was run over by a car outside his warehouse in Agra.
