Al Carns was going to stand for the Conservative party in 2024, before he changed his mind and joined the Labour party. It really shows.

The referendum — which has become one of the most expensive and fraught in Swiss history — would cap the country’s population at 10mn people, from about 9.1mn today. ft.trib.al/Ot5JA3Z

@ChrisRulon Mehdi is a good debater, he's solid on Palestine and it's always nice seeing him go up against right wingers and genocidal zionist scum, but he is a centrist through and through...

@AaronBastani Out of curiosity, how do you think it could’ve been managed better?

100% Unregulated social media made a fair few people - particularly kids - mentally unwell. E-commerce and Amazon nuked the high street. Social platforms basically killed local news. All of it could have been managed much, much better. Why does NOBODY tell him this?

Blair is making the same mistake about AI as he did about globalisation. That change is beyond democratic control. The irony is Blair has forgotten what made Blairism powerful. It needs advocates within Labour. But it may no longer be him. My latest👇 substack.com/home/post/p-19…

@CllrAlexCatt "unproblematic"? Fuck off mate. Those people were not "problematic". They simply hold entirely reasonable views. What's "problematic" is witch hunting anyone who opposes Zionism and Zionist narratives re antisemitism, driving them out of public office and your party.

@Savenay44 The point of this tweet is that it would massively damage the Green Party. He is also a pretty poor local MP who does not have a good reputation locally - Norwich Green Party would likely fight a defection.

@breadandposes Being real while the Leeds Greens would probably be okay with Burgon asking to join, the Norwich Greens are full of ex-campaign staff for Labour who can't STAND Clive Lewis and even if he managed to successfully defect he would never be voted as their candidate for the next GE.

Not surprised he's literally doing the exact same thing as he did under Corbyn. Inserted himself, spoken over everyone, amplify slanders, demands purges. Anyone falling for this sheep dog nonsense a second time deserves it honestly

@paulgfci I do feel some sympathy because of the SPD’s history and the good things it has done for German workers, but for the current leadership? Absolutely none.

Finally, a poll in Germany that isn’t ultra-depressing. The right and the Nazis are down, and the left is up 3 points... Still, it’s really sad to see what’s happened to the SPD. They’re on track to become the smallest left-wing party. In the end, they brought it on themselves with mistake after mistake and all that centrist garbage.

@____theo___ @LloydCymru Yes, because barely anywhere else in the world has arrangements like the UK- Wales *is* a country

@Luna_Simpson101 @LloydCymru The only sovereignty that's enough to be a country is full sovereignty. "Constituent country" isn't a real thing, it's a ceremonial term only used in the UK and the netherlands. Nowhere else in the world are there "countries" without full sovereignty, they're autonomous regions

@____theo___ @LloydCymru Wales has some sovereignty, yes not to a full extent but enough to render it a constituent country of the United Kingdom, which it is

@Luna_Simpson101 @LloydCymru The wikipedia article *is* calling Wales that though, that's my point. Attention is only being given to Wales in this regard, if you look at the red wall wikipedia article it's more lowkey about Labour's dominance there. A country is a fully sovereign entity. That's not Wales.

@____theo___ @LloydCymru It would be, and I’m not calling it that, but you acted like attention had only been given to Wales. Politics has fragmented so much in the last decade and there’s lot of talk of changing strongholds. And Wales is its own country, however you define it

@Luna_Simpson101 @LloydCymru So what? Calling the red wall the greatest political dominance in history would also be silly Wales isn't its own country, in a party-political sense it's absolutely not its own country, Welsh politics is contested entirely along mainstream British/English axes.

@____theo___ @LloydCymru Well there was special attention given to losses in other parts of the countries where Labour did historically well, like the red wall. And there’s also the fact that Wales is its own country, not just a part of the country

@Luna_Simpson101 @LloydCymru I just don't think it's that special of a case. You can find loads of examples of specific parts of a country which have been won perpetually by one party forever. It's an objective fact but it's just not particularly impressive imo. It says more about the stability of UK parties
