The President’s threat that “a whole civilization will die tonight” cannot be excused away as an attempt to gain leverage in negotiations with Iran.
This type of rhetoric is an affront to the ideals our nation has sought to uphold and promote around the world for nearly 250 years. It undermines our long-standing role as a global beacon of freedom and directly endangers Americans both abroad and at home.
The oppressive, terror-spreading regime of the Islamic Republic must be distinguished from the people and the civilization of Iran. Everyone involved—especially the President and Iran’s leaders—must de-escalate their unprecedented saber-rattling before it is too late.

Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz was weeks away from causing a global energy crisis and putting huge domestic and international pressure on Trump to end the war by any means necessary. This dynamic is why, a week ago, Iran said it would not agree to any temporary ceasefire and would only re-open the strait with a permanent end to the war. The Iranian strategy was clearly to make the world feel serious economic pain so as to create insurance against any future attack by the U.S.
Regardless what one thinks of the war generally, to backtrack and give up this leverage with zero guarantees is a major concession by Iran and at least a temporary win for the United States. That's the only way to read tonight's ceasefire.

I just think it's a mistake to view this as any other Trump negotiation.
Other Trump negotiations don't end up in 5.5 week military operations lol.
If Iran was ready to negotiate, we could've avoided 6 weeks of bombing them senseless.
And there is quite literally zero public evidence to suggest that any of this has changed.
This isn't me coming down on Trump. He didn't agree to anything real.
But I think people are making a mistake in their analysis if they think this is the end or the beginning of the end.
There's another shoe that's gonna drop, almost certainly.

I actually read her bill, and she’s absolutely right. It’s not just “amnesty,” it’s so much worse ⬇️
1. Sec. 2303(d): Prohibits DHS from deporting any illegals who simply applies for her “dignity” program.
2. Sec. 1502: Opens the flood gates to asylum seekers by decreasing processing times and mandates DHS ensures “contact with legal counsel” (free lawyers for illegals).
3. Sec. 3202: More than doubles per-country immigrant visa caps (more indian immigration).
4. Sec. 3112: Allows the next Democrat AG to terminate removal proceedings against illegals who are family of U.S. citizens.
5. (A cherry on top) Sec. 1516: Mandates STUDENT LOAN FORGIVENESS for immigration lawyers.
These are just a few of examples of the unconscionable nonsense in this treacherous bill. I’m very glad you killed your own bill with your temper tantrum, though. Saved us a headache on the floor!
