LYIN’ CHUCK: less than a week ago, Senator Schumer said Senate Democrats support voter ID. Yet, Senate Democrats just blocked @SenJonHusted’s standalone voter ID provision.

Tonight, I asked the Senate for unanimous consent to pass a simple voter ID requirement—something 83% of Americans support. Despite publicly stating their support for voter ID, Senate Democrats blocked its passage.

If you listen to Senator Schumer and the Democrats, you would believe the American people are dumb or incompetent- they are neither.   Democrats also think that noncitizens should be allowed to vote and that election fraudsters shouldn’t have to prove their identity.    On the behalf of the 32 million Texans I represent, I find these arguments deeply offensive. 🧵

Senate Democrats voted down a clean voter ID bill — nothing else attached. They’ve been exposed: they won’t stand up for safe, secure elections. The sanctity of democracy demands integrity.

The only place in America where proof of citizenship and voter ID are unpopular is the Senate Democratic Caucus.

Chuck Schumer and other Democrats have insisted that they actually support Voter ID—they just object to other parts of the SAVE America Act. Well, @SenJonHusted just asked unanimous consent to pass ONLY the Voter ID portion of the bill. Democrats blocked it.

Voter ID is common sense. It’s time to see if Democrats will put action behind their words.

We need an ID for standard everyday life—voting should be one of them.

First Democrats flood our country with 15M+ illegal aliens, and now they claim merely asking people to prove they are a citizen before registering to vote is "suppression." When citizenship becomes optional at the ballot box, the republic itself becomes optional.

.@DHSgov has been shut down for over a month. The Democrats shut it down. They want to peel it apart. They refuse to reopen it. Meanwhile, we are seeing long security lines, missed paychecks, and multiple terrorist attacks on American soil.

We've had voter ID in Oklahoma for years. People still show up to vote. It's not crazy to say that this process should apply nationwide.
