@FredGarvinReal There has always been a sanctioning fee paid by the fighter & a sanctioning fee paid by the promoter. The promoter's fee is a fixed cost based on weight class. The fighter's fee is a % of their purse. Fees usually paid week of fight, but sometimes they are paid after the fact.

Since when did sanctioning fees get paid ahead of time? Didn’t these goofs just go on about how Bud and Shakur refused to pay and were stripped after the fact? Why is the promoter paying fees as well? There’s some gaps going on here in the coverage.

The WBC was well within its rights to strip Shakur based on their rules. Shakur was well within his rights to tell them to eat shit for charging him for a fight where their title isn’t on the line.

You really can't explain it if you're being objective. The WBC clearly applies its rules selectively, often favoring certain fighters. Whenever Mauricio is asked about these inconsistencies, he always says it’s “case by case,” but in reality, it’s arbitrary and undermines the organization’s credibility. I found it ironic that when @arielhelwani interviewed @wbcmoro, he never asked about the WBC’s inconsistent rule enforcement. #Boxing #Hypocrisy

@DanRafael1 You da man Dan. Appreciate the reply. It appears Shakur refused to pay the 1% sanctioning fee for a "special permit" to fight for another org's title outside of the division, hence the auto strip instead of two weeks to decide.

This strikes me as abnormal. Usually, a champion has at least a couple of weeks to decide which division to maintain a title in and Shakur made his WBC 135 mandatory in July so doesn't have one due anyway. I don't get it. Floyd was allowed to keep the 147 and 154 titles for ages at the same time.
