Are you familiar with the history of APS and the City of Atlanta? Are you aware that like NYC the city ran the school district? Are you aware of the aftermath and the impact that still lingers today? If you had one iota of knowledge of that history, you would know that Keisha had influence.

@MajorMovezOnly @KelleyKga I'm sorry if you're not interpreting my posts correctly. My point is that Bottoms could have used the bully pulpit to argue for -- even demand -- the reopening of her city's schools. And she chose not to express that opinion. She chose not to use her voice.

Whether Keisha Bottoms had the legal authority to compel Atlanta Public Schools to reopen is irrelevant.
Bottoms was Atlanta's mayor!
And she could have expressed an opinion about reopening her city's schools -- essential social infrastructure.

@MajorMovezOnly @KelleyKga Kemp wasn't as strong on reopening schools as DeSantis, but he was pretty good compared to many other Georgia and U.S. politicians. And he didn't call for keeping them closed in late summer 2020, like Bottoms did. He is also not running for governor.

@MajorMovezOnly @ajlamesa Yes, Estevez and Herring were ultimately responsible for keeping APS closed, but she didn't speak out against it, not because she lacked the power, but because she agreed with them! Like most Democrats, she was terrible on Covid, fighting for extended closures and mask mandates.
