Some thoughts on the Quinyon Mitchell pick: ** Everything you read about him says he has elite football IQ and play recognition. Made plays at Toledo by knowing what was coming and then having a great break on the ball. His football IQ will help him adjust to NFL. ** Makes plays on the ball. Had 43 PD and 6 INTs over the last 27 games. ** Great speed. Had the 2nd fastest 40-time of all the corners at the Combine, 4th fastest overall. ** Strong and a good tackler/physical vs. the run. ** Could end up being a steal. Was much higher than No. 22 on basically everyone's big board....but this reminds me a bit of Andre Dillard falling ** Not great size for a corner. His wingspan, height and weight are all average/below average. Not bad, but not special size. ** Age isn't a big issue but is a bit on the older side. He'll be 23 in July. That is a decent bit older than the other top corners available (Wiggins, Kool-Aid, Arnold are all around 21) ** Has not played a ton of press. Mostly lined up 8-10 yards back from his WR. I think a 1st round pick should be able to play press-man coverage. If he can't then probably not worth the pick at this spot. You can find zone/off corners later ** Competition at Toledo was not great. Had a good Senior Bowl but big projection in guessing if he can go up against NFL athletes. Kool-Aid, Arnold all played against elite competition ** Not a clear path to playing right away. Slay, Ringo, Ricks, Rogers all have an argument to compete for starting job. Slay will start. Mitchell's status as a 1st-round pick will help vs. Ringo/Ricks/Rodgers but this pick is going to send someone that has a bright future to the bench ** I'd have made a move up for Troy Fautanu. I also would have taken Kool-Aid, Arnold or Wiggins over Mitchell. I think there were better options. #Eagles
